I love science fiction stories that explore the fantastic possibilities that future technology holds. This ranges from near-future stories where mankind is just beginning to travel the galaxy to far-future adventures where mankind has explored the furthest reaches of the galaxy, encountered extraordinary wonders, and uncovered a myriad of alien races, both friendly and not so friendly.     Gold Squad of the Outcast Marines loses its leader 1st Lt Solomon Cready when he is ordered to guard Ambassador Ochrie and Imprimatur Mariad Rhossily of Proxima while they address the Confederacy on Earth. As they arrive in Earth orbit they see the nuclear bombardment of New York and the
    destruction of the space lift! They are rerouted to the moon where they come under the command of the second Marine General who is in charge of Earth and near Earth, General Hausman. But all is not as it first seems and Sol has to get his charges away and back to Mars.
    Meanwhile, the Outcasts have been put under the temporary command of Sergeant Jezebel Wen and sent to Pluto where they are expected to fight off the first attack wave of the Ru’at! It’s not an easy task but Jez does her best, which is very good!
    There was a great improvement in the proofreading of this book which made it a pleasure to read. If you like ‘against all odds’ space opera then you’ll like this series but be warned - you need to read the books in order as they all end in cliffhangers and are more of a very long story.
