About the author

I have never not traveled and never not written. Writing 'Taken Flight', my debut novel, has given me the opportunity to combine both passions.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseWouldn't read on a flight but In any other environment, it's a smash...oops, poor choice of words, but a great choice if you want to read a thriller. Clearly, the author has an aeronautical background which makes the story worthy of belief, and definitely worthy of the reader's time, even if it means a sleepless night or two.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI don't think I've read a book so badly edited and proofread. I slogged through the swamp of terrible spelling, grammar and syntax errors, not to mention plot inconsistencies and cardboard characters, just to get to the end to see what happened, which, as it turned out, was pretty lame. There was the germ of a decent novel here but its potential was lost among the flaws. I wondererd if this book was self-published (couldn't be bothered to find out at the end of the Kindle version); if so, Author: for your next effort, get an editor. Or, if a publisher was involved, seek a better one.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseAirline mysteries are just my kind of thing and hard to find books on them so I am so excited about this mystery! I highly recommend it. What a wonderful author!

- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe first four chapters were sufficient to convince me that this novel would benefit from a good editor. Chapter 2 has our captain contemplating marriage- with the coworker he’s having an adulterous relationship with. This particular trope was worn out in the 70s.
Frequent mentions of the joys of sleeping in are excessive, the dialog is paced to slowly, and I’m pretty sure Clive Cussler wrote something similar.
Still- it’s got a bang up premise. A pro editor- Lee Martindale or P.N. Elrod would be a good investment if author intends to continue writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Readable with good characterization
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI always wait a while before reading a kindle book I have procured. The title and explanation intrigued me so I got this one. The story was entertaining though unlikely but the main thing is that it held my interest and I enjoyed it so I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Questions about a missing flight
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book is an interesting, suspenseful read. What happens that a huge jet goes missing without a trace? What is the reason for it to be missing? Up until the moment we realize how the plane becomes missing, then it turns into a run of the mill suspense thriller. Very good, but not outstanding!

5.0 out of 5 stars Efficient thriller from an airline insider
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseHugely enjoyed this thriller. It takes an interesting perspective on a disappeared airliner mystery: largely from the view of the airline staff. How do they cope when all around are screaming for answers, and they don't have any? Iain Charles has been there it seems and gives us some insights on how airlines manage potential disaster. Fortunately he doesn't overdo the insider jargon. We also get well balanced and interesting perspectives from passengers and flight crew. The resolution is nail-biting. We are left satisfied but fully aware that all motives are messy.
The author's style makes for easy reading. Read and enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick easy and interesting
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed the story but also found the details of running an airline and risk management of potential disasters fascinating. One negative, it could’ve used more editing to correct simple errors.

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed this book. Being an Australian and following the story of the missing MH 370 resonated with me. Well written with believable characters.
