- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseTed Galdi must have spent a lot of time researching prisons. His descriptions are so realistic, he must have broken out of several to get that level of detail.
The detail doesn’t get in the way of heart palpitations from the action. Galdi nailed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGood story and good characters equal a book that is really hard to put down. Three guys escape from prison using an electric saw. Maybe not too realistic, but moving on from that point, most of the dialog fits the characters well. I thought Monty and his escape from the basement was a little far fetched. The judge's ruling for Danny was too lenient at the end. There were a few other things in the story that weren't logical too.
Because of these flaws, I rated the book a four instead of a five. But I really enjoyed this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2018Format: KindleVerified Purchase1) Why I chose this book : Wanting a fast-moving read
2) Any course language present : Is pretty raw at times
3) Type of book : Psychological thriller
4) Formatting/Editing : Could stand editing as example this passage "The startled in his and Ken's expressions changed to amazed..." loc 1752
5) Best/Worst aspect of book : Kept me engaged start to finish
6) Favorite Passage : "You rely on friends for the little things in life. For the important things, you can only count on yourself."
7) Bottom-line : A good read given it was one I did finish
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe characters in this book were believable and what they endured was written from their perspective.
Four people with families however dysfunctional showed grit and issues that prevented them from living normally
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseYou start out thinking one way, then as the plot continues, you start changing. Seeing such evil people and how they act scares me. Law enforcement does so much to protect us.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs a rule, I'm not a fan of prison movies or books...but, after a friend recommended this one, I decided to try it. I am so glad I did. Such an entertaining book, with great character build and plotline. I recommend this one, and am ready to check out others by this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIn this exciting story, three prisoners with differing backgrounds attempt to flee to Mexico. Along the way, one of the three, Danny, learns life lessons while dealing with a highly intelligent, mind controlling partner. Phil has a psychological advantage over the escapees and plans to use it to fund their escape. The tension builds from the story’s start to its thrilling conclusion. This is an excellent read.
Note: I received this as an ARC from the author and am freely providing this review.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI liked Danny. He is a hero in my eyes! He wasn't a criminal and shouldn't have been in a prison with hardened criminals!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, maybe slow burner at beginning but soon heats up to become a raging fire, unquenchable into the last page. Highly recommended. So what are you waiting for then out and get it for yourself..
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA slow burner to start but then flared up to become a huge blazing inferno unquenchable until the last psge. It's not your usual crime novel, a bit different wanting you to look for more. Highly commended. But it for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another stunning book
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseBrilliant characters, who you get to know as the story progresses. A plot which, just as you think you have an idea where it's going, goes off in another direction!
Highly recommended.
