Babysitting Money: A Gavin English/LT Jack Daniels Thriller (Gavin English Thrillers Book 4) Kindle Edition
Lucky for Gavin, ex-police Lieutenant Jack Daniels knows her way around the city—her city—and she's agreed to set aside her mommy duties for a few days, so that she can babysit him and his assistant while they're in town.
But somewhere between Gavin's visit to the busted-down crackhouse and their stop at a low-rent donut shop, Jack's peaceful babysitting gig turns deadly and the bullets start flying.
BABYSITTING MONEY brings together Ken Lindsey's heavy drinking, hard-boiled PI (TO THE BONE, ON THE EDGE) and J.A. Konrath's retired hero cop/brand-new mommy (WHISKEY SOUR, SHAKEN) for an intense, laugh-out-loud thriller.

About the authors
Joe Konrath has written over twenty novels in the Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels thriller series. They do not have to be read chronologically to be enjoyed, but the order is: Whiskey Sour, Bloody Mary, Rusty Nail, Dirty Martini, Shot of Tequila, Fuzzy Navel, Cherry Bomb, Dead On My Feet, Serial Killers Uncut (with Blake Crouch), Shaken, Stirred (with Blake Crouch), Dying Breath, Everybody Dies, Rum Runner, Last Call, White Russian, Shot Girl, Chaser, Old Fashioned, Bite Force, and Witch Brew. More coming soon.
Wow, that's a lot of Jack.
If you like your thrillers on the dark side, check out the Konrath Dark Thriller Collective, which includes the books The List, Origin, Afraid, Trapped, Endurance, Haunted House, Webcam, Disturb, What Happened To Lori, The Nine, Second Coming, and Close Your Eyes.
Joe also wrote the Stop A Murder mystery puzzle series, where you become the sleuth and solve brain teasers to try and catch a killer.
He also wrote the sci-fi trilogy, Timecaster, Timecaster Supersymmetry, and Timecaster Steampunk. Even if you don't think you like sci-fi, give them a try. They feature Joe's well-known characters from his other series, and are insane.
With Ann Voss Peterson he wrote the Codename: Chandler thrillers, including Flee, Spree, Three, Hit, Exposed, Naughty, Fix (with F. Paul Wilson), Rescue, and Free.
And, finally, he writes erotica under the pen name Melinda DuChamp, also with Ann Voss Peterson. Those books are probably too spicy for you, so only the brave and bold should seek them out.
Joe writes a lot. You should probably read everything.

Ken Lindsey was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to an outlaw father who read him Sesame Street books at bedtime and let him watch The Shining before his fifth birthday, and a blue-collar mother who was likely the hardest working person he has ever met. This is how he wound up spending most of his childhood with his nose in books and a die-hard love of horror movies and great cinema in general. Narnia, the Millennium Falcon, and Elm Street all hold holy and happy places in his adolescent memories.
During high school Ken found his true love in a Journalism class where he wrote opinion pieces, toyed with the idea of being a photo-journalist, and took every chance he got to read and review books that had not already found their way to his bookshelf. Before graduation, he began writing his first manuscript-a vampire story very reminiscent of Anne Rice’s Interview With a Vampire, which was never (and never will be) published or shared with the public-at-large.
Since graduating Salutatorian of his class, Ken has dabbled in College, tried his hand far too many jobs to name, married, had four beautiful children, divorced, and continued writing. Nowadays he drinks all the coffee, spends as much time as he can with his children, enjoys the Pacific coast whenever he can get to it, and perseveres in his writing in between bouts of vacuuming animal fur from the couch and searching for the best biscuits and gravy in the Pacific Northwest.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseJack is helping an out of town PI on what was supposed to be a simple case. However nothing is ever simple and the action kicks in. Fast paced with a surprise ending. A fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFunny. Love the dialogue between English and assistant, Kara. Three great characters in this short read. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because English smokes in a non smoke hotel room. I HATE cig smoke! He also trapped Kara in the smoke filled car. It was all funny, but yuck. I started with this book. Now I'm going to read Bk 1 and 2.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2015Way too short. I am used to longer stories. Not enough time to even get started. However, I love Jack. ***
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseJust a simple job for Jack Daniels doesn't exist. Gavin English is prone to danger, too. Very interesting short read and looking forward to reading the first book I the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2014J.A. Konrath is my newest favorite author (along with Lee Child). I don't know why I had not heard of him before now! There are the old standbys who write prolifically and well ... But I am thoroughly enamored by Mr. Knorath's writings, including those written under a pseudonym. I was kept on the edge of my seat through the whole book, in fact ALL of his books. I could not recommend a more fun read packed with suspense and intrigue. Do yourself a big favor , INDULGE!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2016I always wish the short stories that involve Jack Daniels were longer. I love her so much. I could see Gavin as a love interest for Jack in the past.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2014I really enjoyed this book a real good mystery with lots of suspense. Jack Daniels is one of my favorite characters and J. A. Konrath does a excellent job on her in his stories. Although there are some stories he writes that are really out there the mysteries that are written are terrific. I shouldn't give all the credit to him alone as there co-writers that are putting in a lot in these books.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2013This is a thrilling, funny pairing off Konrath's classic heroine Jack Daniels and Ken Lindsey's tough and quirky private detective Gavin English. I loved it, and will be picking up more of Lindsey's books. Nicely done!

4.0 out of 5 stars Jack als Hausfrau?
Nicht ganz so brutal wie die sonstigen Jack-Romane, doch endlich was dass nack Kite kommt. Typisch Jack, kann nicht mal die Mutterrolle sie von Action abhalten.
