- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this book from start to finish. The plot was believable and the cast of characters was richly authentic! Some of the banter between the friends (especially Matt and Lucy) was brilliantly crafted with humor and had me rolling with laughter while the more painful and poignant moments were real enough to bring on tears. I loved it and recommend it heartily!

- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI felt the reality of this book deep in my heart. The anger, denial, confusion, and sadness when someone experiences a sudden loss are all on display for Lucy, Adam, and others. The author did a good job of letting the rawness of the moments show through, the unpredictability of emotions and the helplessness to get back on track again. But then comes relief, help in the form of communication, friendships, taking positive steps toward a new future, and lots of good therapy! The ending was so sweet and worth all the struggles it took to get there. I’m smiling imagining the future this family has together.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA young woman suddenly finds herself taking care of 2 small girls, her boyfriend's orphaned nieces. It is a story of adjustment, responsibility and growing-up. A fairly realistic story, not one of magic and wonders.
Well written, funny at times, sad at times. - Just like real life.
I really enjoyed reading this story.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseNice story, but one I'll not think back on. Very predictable story and an easy read book. The characters are likeable.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have read almost every book that Hannah has written and this was my favorite by far. She writes in a way that gives you what you need to know from the previous story in the series, but doesn’t over do it. You could actually feel the struggles and pain that the characters were experiencing, which made it even more fun to celebrate with them. I loved this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved the way Lucy was with the children even tho they were not hers. All children need love and she gave hers freely under trying circumstances. Once the family became resolved, to their changed circumstances, everyone was able to come together for mutual happiness. A great ending!

5.0 out of 5 stars That was a difficult journey but still worth it.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHannah Ellis has a gift for poking at the ugly side of life. A lot of romance writers won't touch these topics, but she does it with class and humour. It felt like an emotional roller-coaster at times. But the journey is still worth taking, just like all the best things in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Adam and Lucy Find Their Happily Ever After?
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAdam and Lucy met on a TV reality show. Their relationship blossoms and soon Lucy moved on with Adam, and things couldn't get better.
But, they did get worse. Adam's sister and her husband are killed in a car accident, and the shock brings on a massive heart attack that kills his beloved father.
Suddenly Lucy is balancing a job, a workaholic depressed husband, two utterly bereft children and a constantly interfering mother in law. Suddenly everything she hoped for seems unachievable.
Hannah Ellis is a brilliant author. Her characters are amazingly real. Reading her books is a rollercoaster ride turning the pages to see what happens next, and feeling heart ache when you get to the end of the book.
100% one of the best authors I have ever read, of the probably, 1000's in my life time. 😍😍

5.0 out of 5 stars yin and Yang
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIf the first book is “sunny with occasional clouds”, this is mostly “stormy with occasional bright spells”.
As always, Hannah writes convincingly of the pain, struggle and darkness that can infect even the most perfect pairing, and pulls it off in a completely satisfying and convincing way.
While maybe not having the content to develop an entire series from, I really loved how Adam’s and Lucy’s story arc unfolds. Bravo!
