- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2023Claire Ridgeway, with her meticulous research, does a marvelous job of bringing Anne Boleyn and other Tudor figures to life. She helps us to understand their motivations and their complex world. This book is definitely worth reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2023This collection of essays looks at Anne Boleyn from what she looks like, her relationship with Henry the Eighth, and subsequent execution. In addition, the essays look in depth at the other players in this time. The author also gives her opinion on each aspect. I don’t like long poems in any publication, but that is a personal preference, not a criticism of the author. She is unafraid of taking on other theories.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2019I am a regular reader of the Anne Boleyn Files. This book includes information I had already read but I still enjoyed it. For all of those readers who are interested in Anne and in Tudor history this is a great place for facts about them and about the Tudor world. I like that she discusses the facts and the much repeated fictions about Anne without dumbing it down for those of us who are not professional historians. Well worth reading and keeping for future reference.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2019I enjoyed the small snippets you get while reading. My bucket list contains a tour with Claire and her mates. Talk Tudor all the day long, sounds like I would love it and I would love to meet Claire in person! She is so lovely in her emails, which I had never done before and her answers back always made me feel that she welcomed the cross talk!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2020This is a collection of articles written by Claire Ridgeway who hosts a group of Tudor enthusiasts on-line. The articles cover a broad number of topics such as whether Anne could have committed adultery and whether George Boleyn was a hedonist. If you already have an understanding of this period of history you will enjoy this collection. Ridgeway sites a lot of sources to back up her opinions. This is not a book for one who has a casual interest in the Tudors.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2020I just found Claire's book and really enjoyed the format and learning more about Anne and the Tudors. If you are an Anne Boleyn or history buff this will probably be a great book for you. I am looking forward to reading more of her work

Claire Ridgeway gives so much more historical fact in all of her books. This one for me was no exception.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read for anyone interested in Anne Boleyn
So I’ve put these books off for a while. As a series of blog posts I’d pre judged them as inferior and unable to be in depth. I could not have been more wrong!
The tone is conversational but not gossipy, she puts forward her opinion eloquently but also gives an in depth account of the other side of the argument citing sources or quoting books, some of which I’ve read and many that I’ve added to the reading list. Also I find her description of Anne Boleyn as some where between saint and sinner is very close to my own opinion.
These books would be perfect for someone who has enjoyed Tudor fiction and wanted to learn some of the facts behind the stories without being held down by some of the weightier biographies or non fiction books. However as a huge Tudor fan who soaks up all the Tudor knowledge I can, there’s still plenty to get me thinking, questioning and further reading that these books have inspired.
If you’re interested in Anne Boleyn and the Tudor period, I highly recommend these books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Obsessive
I agree with a lot of what Claire says especially that Anne was innocent in committing adultery and didn't deserve to die but I think she is obsessed with Anne,I think Anne egged on Henry to divorce Katherine .No doubt Claire will disagree wholeheartedly as she has done because not every one agrees with her about Anne.Thomas Moore one of England's greatest minds paid the price for the marriage of Henry and Anne. And did Katherine deserve to be treated like she was with her daughter Mary?Yes I believe Anne's death was terrible as I think she was innocent completely of committing adultery but my sympathy goes to Katherine as I think Anne was very determined to be Queen and was ruthless how she went about it.
