- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have a new favorite romance author, and hope there are more like ‘Maisy’ in the works! More of Club Drift, please.
What I loved:
—Dan’s tenderness and care for Maisy, especially in the small moments: the gentle kisses, the snuggles, and the whispered encouragement. That’s the dream Dom, right?
—How beautifully Dan explains the balances of power exchanges. I don’t see this done well in a lot of the “kink newbie” kinds of stories, and it should be more common. Hayes makes kink ethics sexy.
—That the book shows how freeing a healthy kink community can be for people who’ve felt like something is wrong with them their whole lives. The healing power of acceptance and understanding.
I have some quibbles, but they didn’t damage how much I loved the book.
One is that I wish Maisy had shown more of her sparkiness in the beginning. She came off as a little pathetic. Thankfully the giggling and annoying bashfulness didn’t last long.
The other disappointment was Dan’s crisis. It flared up out of the blue and he never apologized properly for it, which felt a little odd because communication and accountability were so strong elsewhere in the book, and in the ethos of the club.
P.S. I want to know what happened to Jenna.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2021Format: KindleVerified Purchase4 stars because of the imbalance with her forgiving him so fast (I’ll get to it) and because of the small things that made me upset as a fan wanting blood, but you can’t have it all I guess.
I reread the first book in the Shadowlands series and really wanted something similar, and I found this. I took a chance, liked the reviews, and I’m glad I read this. It started off cute with Maisy’s life being built up and her intro to the club was a heady reality/dream check where you don’t know what’s “real” and what matters. I think she was maybe a little too clean cut as a sub being introduced but the author did a good job at showing her feelings about exploring it all and trying to express what she felt from reading all those books and never finding a reality to live up to them. Can tooooootally relate!
The Dan drama was good too. I totally bawled my eyes out at the appropriate times I won’t go into detail over, and while I agree that he sort of had grounds for his actions, it seemed to lessen with how quick he was to change his mind on what he’d originally deemed as “okay”. Stuff like that, when handled quick, makes the characters’ actions seem… less thought out. Kinda like the last season of GoT with everything on hyper speed and it all just looks weird instead of impressive. I still loved the book and it’s because of how good it was going that those two instances stand out so much. Him suddenly saying “ok I get it” and her being like “yes” so fast wasn’t good for me. Otherwise, I really did like it all.
Loved it, really. The club, the people, the Doms. I hope the next one gives me the same feels.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved Dan and Maisy's story. The story had drama, angst, self-discovery, and much more. I am really looking forward to what comes next from this author. I read with KU and loved so much that I bought it.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI looked into this after making some friends who live the lifestyle and this is very real. Loads of creeps posing as Doms just looking for hook ups. After care is never talked about. I laughed when my massage therapist asked me for a safe word. I was lucky I knew what she was talking about
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really enjoyed reading "Maisy's Keeper" Saffron Hayes' first book in her Club Drift series. I thought the characters were well developed and likable. As a reader I could really appreciate Maisy's journey to discovering who she really was and what she needed to make her life happy. The chemistry between Maisy and Daniel jumped off the pages. While the path to their HEA had some bumps the plot held my attention till the very last page. I think the secondary characters were interesting in their own right and I look forward Wiliam's story.

Wow .... Loved this book. Can't wait for the next one in this series and plan to immediately go to Saffron Hayes' page and sign up to be notified when it is released. I was in tears with my heart breaking for both Daniel and Maisy at one point and beyond happy at others. This is a tender yet sexy as hell book to read. An interesting and realistic look into true what BDSM is all about

5.0 out of 5 stars Mostly romance... in a soft BDSM setting
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAn engaging love story which started improbably swiftly but kept one's interest all the way to the required HEA ending. Just a little in the way of angst but neatly reconciled reasonably quickly. All this taking place within a submissive young woman's exploration of her interest in fairly light BDSM and with a caring Dom (who was not a sadist). Basically focussing upon how giving up control can be so much of a relief and how taking control in order to cherish, indeed love in this case, can be ultimately fulfilling for both.
An enjoyable and satisfying read worth about 4.7 stars. Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy book full of sexy sex
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLooking for lovely, funny sex-positive vision of BDSM romance? Then Maisie's Keeper is the bubbling dungeon of horny shenanigans for you. I guarantee you'll be hooked on the romance between charming, mousey Maisy and her various beefcakes from Chapter 1 and enjoy her journey as they guide her through the various chambers of Club Drift. Perfect for any 50 Shades readers who came out yearning for a more realistic and responsible depiction of BDSM romance. Also yes, the sex is super hot. The...err..."table" scene in Chapter 24 is a particular favourite. Looking forward to the sequel...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully written
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI haven’t been glued to a book in quite a while! Having read the 50 shades series, I wanted to explore other types of romance novel and came across this. Well I was not disappointed!
I loved reading this book, the descriptions of all the characters and scenery are just wonderful and it was so gripping!
I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
The only downside was that it ended!
Thanks for a great read.
