I had read some historical fiction in this era and wondered what had really happened, but didn't want to tackle a huge biography just for some highlights. This book was perfect for what I needed; a quick sum up of all the relevant facts. As a bonus, it was a well-written (and thus an enjoyable read).

Quick read, nothing I didn't know but great for someone who does not know about the Borgia's.

A quick overview of a complicated man who delivered bad ends to many and met one himself. There seems to be a bit of padding toward the end of the book, but if you need a quick overview to supplement another interest this will do. There are better books, but they are much longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Concise and readable

I really enjoyed this short and concise book - the first by Samantha Morris - because her enthusiasm for her subject is apparent throughout (and I admire history writers all the more for this). Before reading this, I knew very little about Cesare Borgia except the oft-regurgitated myths and rumours, and I was pleased to have these cleared up and learn about what the most probable facts are about the Borgias. I commend Morris for her work in this, and look forward to her next.
