Copper Creek: A Sawyer's Ferry Novel Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 414 ratings

Frankie:
My life sucks.
After spending a year jobless and on the edge of becoming homeless, I’d officially reached a level of desperation that, even if I wasn’t completely broke, retail therapy couldn’t fix.
While Sawyer’s Ferry, Alaska, is the last place on earth I’d ever want to visit, when my best friend, Holden, begs me to fly out and plan his wedding, I can’t say no. What I didn’t expect was to stumble into the administrative chaos at Copper Creek Brewing—or its too-hot-to-be-legal owner.
Clearly the man needs my help, and I’m willing to go above and beyond.
Way beyond.

Barrett:
I am screwed.
Six months after my assistant up and quit, I’m not any closer to finding a replacement, and things at the brewery are starting to fall apart.
And then in walks Frankie. He’s not the typical guy you’d find in these parts, and he brings with him a world of confusion. Because as much as I need his help, I can’t seem to keep my eyes—or hands—off him.
He’s supposed to be getting my life in order, but instead there’s a chance he could turn everything upside down.

A Great Love Story.
I love this couple. Frankie is all out there and Barrett is in the closet. Frankie is suffering a hard time currently out of work and homeless he is staying with his cousin until Holden asks him to plan his wedding. This story was amazing and I look forward to the series continuing.

Read the blurb and dive right in.

This is another sweet and really sexy tale of life in the remote Alaska wilderness where obviously gay but not too swishy Frankie has come from New York City to allegedly plan his friends' wedding. At the same time cuddly bear type Barrett is building his home brewery after trying to figure out life a couple of years after his divorce.

They meet, and naturally sparks fly, subtly at first and then when things get too hot for words, all over the place.

I like Cate Ashwood's books, and really have enjoyed this series thus far. I look forward to the next one which brings back a couple from an interim tale. But for now, you should get involved with Frankie and Barrett, grab a brew and some tissues, too.

Good plot. Nice, likable characters. Mostly-believable chemistry.

Lots of easy to hatch typos/extra words.

Timeline to “love” feels a little rushed in this series. Not full insta love vibes but then about 3/4 of the way through the book (couple months in book timeline) we are in love despite never officially dating. But not enough to make me stop reading the books!

OMG this was such a fantastic book. I Love Frankie from the very first moment he stepped on the page in Alaska. He was so everything that I imagine and a character in a book. He was fabulous. He was outspoken. He was bratty. He was sarcastic he was just everything. I could not wait to get to his book. I wondered who he would be pair with and I was not disappointed. Barrett was the typical silent mail Alpha that I love. He was everything that Frankie needed and a man. I love watching their relationship grow and develop and change. I just love this story was awesome.

Who knew that Frankie's book ended up as my FAVORITE of this series so far!

It really surprised me because Frankie was a bit too much for me in the first book. I couldn't deny that Frankie and Barrett sizzled in this one, mostly due to their opposite attraction. Frankie is the 'flamboyant' one, high maintenance, but he's also VERY secured in his own skin. Frankie knows what he wants and he just doesn't give a damn. I loved that about him. Barrett is more reluctant, never acted on attraction towards same gender before. However, they just CLICKED.

I loved every steps taken towards their romantic relationship. Even if at first, it was supposed to be temporary, since Frankie visited Alaska only to plan Holden and Gage's wedding. The scene before the ending chapter was making my romantic heart sighed in happiness. The ending chapter was lovely too.

I really hope if this is the final book of the series, there's going to be an update of sort with Frankie and Barrett. I want to see them in the 'future' together

This is book 3 in the series and it can be read as a stand-alone, but you'd miss some of the finer details of the series and the relationships developed within. Love this series and I've been waiting for Frankie's book. It didn't disappoint either. Like all of the author's books, this one is a great blending of laugh out loud moments, with moments of introspection. Frankie is all sass and living out loud, with a core of vulnerability. Barrett is floating through life, not sure where he's going. They meet and the fun begins.

This is my least favorite of the three Sawyer's Ferry books so far, and much of it has to do with my response to Frankie, the flamboyant and outrageous stranger to the Alaskan town, brought there ostensibly to plan his friend Holden's wedding in two months. How he meets Barret, the owner of the Copper Creek Brewery, and how they find their way to an HEA is an interesting enough story. Which is why it gets 3 stars. The issue of Barret's closeted sexuality and Frankie's part in opening that door and dragging him out kicking and screaming is very nicely dealt with in the novel. Barret's secret is smartly matched by his reserved, almost brusque nature, character, and there's nothing about him that suggests that he and Frankie would make a good couple. And yet they do, and the deeply romantic man whom Barret shows himself to be is sweet and tender and a joy to read.

However, Frankie is a huge detraction for me. In the beginning, I found him endlessly irritating, and for a while, I harbored an almost active dislike of him. My feelings towards him didn't change until well into the second half of the novel, by which point I felt no real connection to him. The scene where he leaves to return to New York City is poignant and my heart breaks for the two men, but aside from that and the few moments of epiphany that he has, I am not at all engaged by him. He's too much a "surface" person, too superficial, too determined not to let them see him sweat, and it made it hard for me to connect when he had actually important moments of insight. And in the end, it's this lack of any special attraction to his character that weakened the story for me.

I really enjoyed the previous two books in this series and I was very happy Frankie was next, especially with Barrett.

This was very well written and so entertaining. My heart was wrung out and stomped on for the last 25% but still made me laugh.

I loved Frankie. He was very funny if a bit over the top in the previous books and I loved that we got to see him fully here, with his ups, downs and insecurities.

I loved Barrett, this gruff guy who is struggling with his attraction, but is sweet and attentive when he starts letting go.

I loved loved the ending. It was an amazing book and I really look forward to more

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, light series
Reviewed in Australia on June 23, 2019
This is a fun series - I'm finding all the books, this one included, to be very easy and light reads. There is zero angst, and even in this book where we had Barret discover his bisexuality, there was minimal confusion from him over this discovery, and little to no fumbling when it came to sexual encounters. He and Frankie found their way very easily, and fell into a routine of being together just as quickly.

I still enjoy the characters, and Frankie was such a great contrast to the characters we have seen in this series thus far, but know I'll have to soon look for other reads to get the depth and angst that I need between light reads.

Still a series I would recommend - just be warned it is very light hearted and therefore misses some depth that could have been brought to these characters.

I really loved reading this book, it made me laugh so much. Frankie and Barrett made such a cute couple you could not help but fall in love with them. I love how Frankie did not care about other people's opinions about they way he acted or what he wears. I wish this story was longer

I just love sparkly, sassy, Frankie. Barrett's confusion and resistance was futile facing the force of nature that is Frankie. A truly wonderful read, with some angst .
