You have to love this book for its storyline and characters. All of the characters become real in the flesh people that you could reach out and touch. Combine that with a new spin on the aspect of inside the mob and the workings of the tightly knit families makes you want to know more. Your own mind starts to wonder about how you would deal with different situations that arise. If that doesn't make you want to read more let's talk about the love stories that are intertwined through the pages. They encompass everything from first love to the "a
she's the one" love and drags you through even the bitter sweet loss of a lover. This is one book with a lot of punch.

I’ve read other Mafia stories that were better than his one. I did enjoy this books’ different perspective from the others I’ve read. Hair and eye color were lacking, like so many books. I like to see the MC’s characteristics in my mind’s eye. I liked the secondary characters. I will read the next book in the series. I’m curious as to Maria’s and Simone’s future.

Emma Nichols is a new author to me and what a brilliant writer she is. The plot was so well-developed and edgy. What a twist to have two women, Maria and Patrina, as the mafia bosses. The characters, setting and plot were so well-defined. The underlying theme of the horrendous deeds of the organized crime families were written so well, and the love story with Simone was just exquisite. Cosa Nostra has it all! Brava, Emma! I will be reading more of your books for sure!

Five stars for this compelling story with its compelling characters and its atmosphere of drama and love. I am not a fan of mafia stories and movies. And the mafia is one of the main characters here. But I was drawn in and stayed for the duration. If you are someone who cares about the characters you meet in a book this novel will make you anxious. But it is also exhilarating. The story line is deep and compelling. The drama is sometimes heart wrenching but not over done. What more can I say without spoiling? Read it and see!

Emma Nichols does well writing stories of WLW set in such evocative places as Sicily with this two-part “Cosa Nostra” series; and the Vincenti series, which follows its main characters between Paris, London and Corsica. Other equally excellent Nichols’ titles written in a similar sensual vein are “Madeleine” and “Ariana.” In each of these stories Nichols presents passionate, strong, smart, and principled female characters. In Cosa Nostra, to stay alive and safeguard their future together, Maria and Simone must navigate the violence, omertà (code of silence), shifting allegiances, and the actions of insane, ruthless Dons who’ll do anything to capture more business. However, the pair are buffered by their love for each other and their families, the loyalty of their mafia associates, and their integrity.

What’s not to love about a good mafia read and f/f to boot?
I couldn’t put this down once I started it. It has a few twists and turns to make the story just right. Enjoy!

I wanted to love this book - the plot and characters had so much potential. But it was kind of predictable, very repetitive, and sometimes it wasn't clear enough who was speaking or whose perspective was being narrated. The author used third person omniscient narration, which I typically love because it gives you a glimpse into multiple perspectives and timelines - really fleshing out the world to the max. More tags on thoughts and statements would have been very helpful. It took so long for Maria and Simone to get together that their romance felt extremely rushed - would have liked more dialogue between them, showing them actually getting to know each other. Lust was synonymous with love, which made it hard to feel invested in the couple. I also wish Maria and Patrina would have had a better chance to hash out their feelings for each other. The love between Maria and Patrina felt more real for me than it did between Maria and Simone, so the ending left feeling pretty gutted for Patrina. Overall it was a decent story.

This is brilliant. Riveting characters, thrilling action, beautiful romance, gorgeous scenery and a tension that builds to a satisfying conclusion. First I have read by this writer. It won't be the last. If you like VK Powell, Lori Lake or any class writer of adventure, thriller or romance you will enjoy this one. Unputdownable.

Cosa Nostra was... whelp, where do I start?? First of all, where the heck are are all the Maria's in my country?? She certainly stole my heart in this book! And Simone was perfect for her. I adored their romance and the chemistry between both women, the protectiveness of Maria. This book has the perfect blend of action and heat and sweet. When I think of hot bad a** mafia women from now on, Maria Lombardo will come to mind. I can't recommend this book enough, and I'm angsty to get into the sequel!
