About the author

C.N. Crawford are Wall Street Journal bestselling authors of fantasy romance and urban fantasy--not one person but two. When they are not looking after their two energetic sons, they take turns writing drafts and revising.
Christine is from Lexington, Massachusetts and has had a lifelong interest in New England folklore--with a particular fondness for creepy old cemeteries. Nick spent his childhood reading fantasy and science fiction during Vermont's long winters, which have rendered him impervious to the cold.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2024The characters & storyline was well thought out & written. I would have liked it if Ali could have acknowledged that Gavin saved her life at least half the times she ignored that she was still alive solely because of him.
He was lying to her by omission ... True, but he was trying to help her and her people. Of course she didn't know that but it seemed she was blind to the good things he did and was quick to try and kill him for every little thing.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2022Well written. Lots of action. Powerful characters. Suspenseful and dramatic story. The heroine , smart, witty and resourceful. The bad guy not so bad. Almost honorable. I'm liking it so far. Can't wait to read the next book. You need to know this author has a vivid and awesome imagination.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2020I felt like this story was lacking, the romance took a huge backseat, which is understandable with a slow burn. However, I feel like it should have at least been building us up to some sort of anticipation. (An intimate moment, etc...) There was no character development whatsoever. The adventure was fun, I just wish there would have been a little more action-packed moments to keep us entertained. The most disappointing part was not explaining more of the Norse Mythology throughout, there were some great opportunities to really pile on the world building and mythology for those who don’t know very much about it. Maybe even a flashback to Ragnarok? I was really excited for this book and overall it was extremely underwhelming. It took me a really long time to get through. I am remaining optimistic for the next book, I would really like to see these characters develop a lot more than what we saw in this first book, maybe they will stop lying to each other and make out, maybe Loki will come back from the dead and throw a party, who knows right? I give it three stars because I didn’t hate it or love it, it was just kind of bland.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2021If your a fan of Norse gods or Thor and the Yggdrasil you will love this book! I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it.....it took me only a few hours to read so it's a quick but good read. The thing that surprised me was there's never a shortage of textual errors from a lack if efficient editing in independent books, but this one wasn't like that. There's nothing worse than reading a self published author who used Microsoft word to spell check or whatever...but this book was a pleasure to read! I enjoyed the unique characters and world building. I've read hundreds of kindle unlimited books and only 3 or 4 stand out...this is one. Well done C.N Crawford, I eagerly look forward to reading book 2 of this series!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2024The world setting is interesting. I am going to miss the dark lich, looks better than his blond counterpart. I am a bit confused about the book cover photos, isn’t he an elf? I know as a lich he looked different so the ears weren’t necessarily pointed, but now that he’s back to normal?

- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2024I love this story so much! It's not your typical idea of a fantasy romance. The characters are deep and complex and amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars A romp through mythology
I really enjoyed this one. We follow Ali as she tries to free her dark elf brethren from their underground prison of caves in a post-Ragnarok world full of magical beings and monsters. From the minute she breaks into a bank vault it is non-stop action as she and a new ally travel through the world's of Ydgrassil to find a way to free him of his curse and her people of their entrapment.
There is a light sizzle of romance here but more of an emphasis on world building and adventure. I liked reading Crawford's take on the mythology I am somewhat familiar with and which isn't all that common in today's fiction. Plus, their description of scenarios is intriguing an detailed without being a drag on the storyline.
Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great new series.
So I stayed up until the early hours of the morning to finish this book (Only time I have been glad to have been furloughed). Absolutely loved it. The authors ability to create a different world using Norse mythology was superb. The main characters were well developed and I found myself empathising with both. I cannot wait for the next instalment.

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad that I picked this book.
It was very intriguing, I wasn't expecting the ending it had. Glad I opted for the extra chapter for a bit of prequel as to how Marroc got his curse. I'm looking forward to seeing if Ali and Marroc (Galin, now) pursue their feelings for each other.
Onto book two!
