Destroying Magic (Randy Wolf and the Dropout Magicians) Paperback – December 14, 2018
Purchase options and add-ons
Randy Wolf was once a promising young wizard, on track to earn a degree from the prestigious Madkey School. But then everything went wrong. Forced to drop out, he became an assembly-line magician at his former school, serving the high-powered faculty and arrogant student body. He thought things couldn't get any worse.
Oh, how wrong he was!
As the Madkey School celebrates a new semester, a forgotten order of magicians launches a stunning attack. Others flee, but Randy bravely steps forward … and straight into the heart of a secret war. Many years ago, a terrible conflict tore the magical community apart. Now, history is threatening to repeat itself. With the help of his fellow dropouts, Randy must uncover the truth about the past … before it destroys magic forever.
Penned by international bestselling author David Meyer, Destroying Magic is an amazing roller coaster ride, one full of jaw-dropping twists and turns. Fans of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson will remember this book for years to come.

About the author

David Meyer is an author, marble-maze builder, sock puppet aficionado, wannabe cartoonist, a creator of some things and breaker of others, a yogi and martial artist, and the owner of the reddest hair you’ve ever seen.
He’s a man of few apps, but many books. Creatively, he prefers to work in circles, following “the pull” rather than pushing. He’s tried—and abandoned—nearly every productivity tool known to man. He likes new ideas, old stories, and the big picture. He dislikes small talk, busyness, and infinite scrolling.
He’s married to the wife of his youth, who knows his worst, yet loves him best. He’s also father to what just happens to be his two favorite children of all time.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2019This book is so visual in it's content that it is like watching a movie in your mind. As a matter of fact, it should be a movie! I believe that this book will reach each reader at a deep level: it relates to our individual journeys in life, our choices, and our personal awareness and growth. It is a great read for adults and YA whether or not your normal genre is magic/fantasy. To say that this book is simply about one young man's journey to (and dropping out of) magic school to finding redemption in his own soul is to sell the book short. To say more would be a spoiler. Just read it...please do yourself a favor. It there were more than five stars, I would would give them.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2018What a marvelous book! It's truly unique and entertaining. Destroying Magic starts where Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Hunger Games leave off.
As a former librarian, magic and spells don't get any better than this. I started yesterday and literally could not put it down! It was so much fun. The author has an amazing gift for imagination, humor and suspense. I loved the doughcream and the spinning chairs! The characters come to life as these underdog dropouts led by Randy Wolf, battle to save the Madkey Magical School from a cast of evil bullies. Chaotic magicians versus the Structuralists on Victory Day - who will win?
I'd love to blurt out the details but that would spoil it. The thrilling ending leaves me looking for the next installment of the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2019I highly enjoyed this book. When I first started reading the book I was confused and overwhelmed it seemed disjointed and wordy but I pressed on eventually getting in to it. This is my first book I've read from David Meyers but it most certainly not be the last. I feel there was a drastic mental state change throughout the book that left me on the edge of my seat devouring the unexpected twists and turns. Overall well done...Meyers has a special style that I hope to see more of.
