Divine Hunter (The Vampire's Mage Series Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 2,310 ratings

All’s fair in love and magic.
Rosalind is preparing for all-out war with Drew, who wields gods-magic with terrifying skill. But now Rosalind is learning to harness gods-magic, too. When she next encounters her cousin, she wants to destroy him completely. Unfortunately for her, Drew launches a surprise attack on the vampire city.

Torn away from Caine, she's trapped in Drew’s sadistic world where she has to do whatever he commands. But a quiet rage simmers under the surface... Drew thinks he can control her, but she'll do anything to be reunited with Caine, her seductive demigod. And when she does, she's determined to learn the truth about him--and herself--once and for all.

Gods-magic or not, she'll find a way back to the vampire city. Because the price of failure will be far too high for her, for Caine--and for all of demon-kind.

I read this whole series in 4 days because it was so good. At first I really disliked Ros but as she became more and the books evolved I really loved her. The characters were amazing and some of the deaths were hard to take but overall by far one of my favorite series I’ve read. Thank you for something new, different, and well written!

Loved the story. Loved the imagery! The authors are truly gifted. Rosalind growth was great, from naive to immoral goddess. Cain is Cain. Apparently “hottest man to walk the earth” 😆 I loved his character when he wasn’t holding back. He was such an enticing vault. I swear I thought his half brother was going to end up being Cains son! Sneaky Crawfords. The story did have some parts that dragged a little, but necessary for the growth parts. Story was great ❤️

By the time I started this series, I’ve read most of this authors other books. The characters intertwine from other series throughout all the books I have read. They are books for adults. They have descriptions of horrible violence, sensuous and seductive sex and imagery that inspires terror, happiness and sorrow. As a truly excellent book does, I was pulled into this world, I could not stop reading until all the interconnected stories were completed. These books are not for the faint of heart, and are not light reading, but will carry you through to a stunning end each time.

At the the banquet of fantasy upon which I have gorged my entire life, this series has been a deliteful repast. Escapeism at some of it's best. Thank you for the ride!

Summary: too many battles, too little investment, ambiguous victory. I wanted to like this book more. The battle scenes suffered from repetition, data overload, lack of investment, and lack of risk. Let's throw whole new species of enemy into each battle scene! And there's a lot of battle scenes! And then more! And more!

The readers have to care about characters, special items, specific things in order to care when they're threatened. Overall, the female MC always has handsome broody Caine available to heal all injuries. Tammi is not re-developed into a character we worry about in fight scenes. The few vulnerable minor characters that appear are tossed away from the story as soon as their scene ends. And we're expected to believe Rosalind suddenly feels devoted to a place where she's been trapped, repeatedly attacked, and is held in contempt by 99% of the population. Umm no.

Also, it isn't clear what the MCs have to sacrifice on their way to achieving power & victory. The general's attachment to his troops isn't obvious, nor is it explained why his army respects & follows him. The female MC has good fighting moments but otherwise her character arc has a lot of plot holes. There's a lot of inherent Stockholm Syndrome in the plot, so it's difficult to enjoy the victories bc the female MC's agency is largely subverted.

    Good potential, partially realized results.

I am so very happy with the way the series ended. I love these characters and I loved watching them evolve. Now I am just sad that it is over but I will definitely start a new one tomorrow!

The bad guys got a wonderful death. The battle scenes were nice and vivid with some crazy monsters that needed to be defeated. Stubborn characters FINALLY opened up showing their emotions and admitting their troubled pasts. A few more yummy sex scenes. And a bad ass heroine with some ridiculous powers and her inner turmoil to contain and combat everything she had inside her mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars A final installment in all its glory.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 1, 2017
I loved this book so much it packed a punch from the get go.
This book picks up from where the last left and blends the two stories in beautifully.

There's so much I loved about this book I don't even know where to start. The character development in this final installment is precisely where it needs to be and you reach the end of the book to find that all the characters find themselves where they need to be having gone through hell and aback the characters truly get a worthy ending.

One of the things I loved about this last boom was the fact that Rosalind finally accepts who she truly is and by doping that her and Cleo become one with each other to the point where you feel everything is lost for Rosalind and in swoops Cleo to save the day and not because she wants something but because they look out for reach other. By the end of the book Rosalind mentions that Cleo has become more quiet and more a part of herself. This. To me brings this part of the series full circle.

I loved that in this boom through Rosalind eyes you saw all the other characters grow and become who they where meant to be. This is especially true in Caine and Rosalind stories that they FINALLY admit what they fell for each other. Caine finally trusts Rosalind not only by giving her the key to kill immortals but more importantly by showing her his deamons and sharing with her his story.

I recommend this story to all supernatural readers. You'll fall in love with demi God's and hunters alike.

Thus book has truly done justice to the characters. Amazing read.
