- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2018This book had everything; likable main characters, wizards, pirates, sea monsters, a little bit of romance. I really enjoyed the mystery around Darek; what kind of special powers he has and his ability to connect with the sea monsters. This is one of the best fantasy books I have read in a long time, and this is just the prequel. Bring on the rest of the story!!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2018For a short little prequel, it’s pretty good. The authors jump right into the action and continue to keep a very steady pace throughout. The writing is very well done and I liked the main character, Darek. He tends to lead headfirst into trouble though. No fault but his own though. I’m going to have to read the next book now to see what else he stumbles into. Seems like a promising start to a new series!
Dragonclaw Dare is the prequel to the Dragon Sea Chronicles.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2018not kindle unlimited, this writer get books here and there, no idea of genre and he also switches up, but have read most of his just for that reason basically, and he's one of the few I still do the 'here, a free book to read, hope you like it, and if you get around to it would be nice to tell others about it' but hey like his writing and it's free, very good combination

- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2018The story was pretty good. I liked the characters, but there were areas that got really boring & a lot of unnecessary ship lingo.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2018It is interesting and promises to be a good series. You have pirates and islands along with warring clans with magic and monsters. Young man out to prove himself makes a stupid wager and ends up in deep trouble. It ended with a cliff hanger. which isn't so bad as long as it doesn't take a long time to get the next book. I hate to leave him just hanging out there.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2018This was a great book to read it was filled with action. I loved reading about strong characters and a well written story. I loved reading this book and highly recommend this book to all who loves a great book to read.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2018A very good introduction to Dragon Sea. It does not spend/waste a lot of time setting up the world but gives just enough background in the story to know what is going on. It starts out as a simple boys being boys story and goes from there. I liked the mix of fantasy, magic, and high seas adventure that was rolled int a fun story that makes me want to read the series to find out what happens next in this world The hints that are dropped and the twist at the end set the series up. Kept me entertained throughout the story to see what would happen next.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2018A young man, Darek, finds out the hard way that it is never a smart move to take a dare. He turns a drunken night of innocent revelry into a momentous fight for his life, all because he wanted to show off. When Darek sails in a stolen sloop to the home waters of the Black Claw Clan, he runs into trouble by rescuing a prisoner from the clutches of a wizard who is trying to control/train a sea serpent. Escaping from the wizard soon forces the young men into the hands of a band of pirates. The daughter of the Pirate captain takes a liking to Darek, and things soon grow progressively worse.
I liked this prequel to the SEA DRAGONS: MAGE RISING. I would have given it a higher score except that I kept losing the flow of the story when the author used too many pirate or nautical terms. I felt that could have been cleaned up better to make the story easier to follow.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I enjoyed so much I wanted to leave a review.

5.0 out of 5 stars A turbulent, thrilling adventure!
Chris Turner.
Brian Ference
A daring and strong personality of the main character takes us on a journey through turbulent seas and unexpected outcomes, full of intrepid and nerve wrecking actions.
With a story every bit as intricate and entertaining as the personalities who fill it.
I am voluntarily giving a review of an advance copy I received from the author.
