- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2020This story starts years after the destruction of the United States by nuclear attack.
It is thoughtfully written in such a way that that the reader is immersed in the the story as if they are a part of it. The biggest disapointemont was that the series was ended at five novels. It could easily could have gone for five more.
Note to the Authors;
Thank You
I really enjoyed what your talents produced. I am a musician and I appreciate fine art when I see it. Yours was exceptional in this genre and deserves to be known.
To all readers of this review:
If you like this type of Mad Max/EMP CHAOS Futuristic/Survival type action type novels, then this is for you!
So many follow follow the same formula, the grid fails, grandpa was right, he prepared, but he is dead, we have to fight back to his cabin in the hills and his supplies. Blah, blah, blah.
This story is different and this story is better. That's all I am going to say. Read it. You will like it.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2025Loved the main characters, especially Jonah and Seren’s evolvement throughout the story. I truly recommend this book for all apocalyptic readers.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2022It was an amazing read. There was so much action and I liked all the characters. It's a perfect story of the future but I feel that the story was not completed. What happened with the people at the bunker? They had so much knowledge that they could share with the clans to improve their lives. Also, how did the Valks come to be? The book that Gaston carried sounded like it predicted the future but how did they know? Just by observing a people won't help you predict the future. To the author, thank you for a great story but I feel like you could do two more books on the bunker people and the Valks.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2019I give this book 5 stars because living a busy life, I was forced to put it down for days at a time, yet not once did I have to go back and refresh the story of characters for myself! This might be a first for me.
The story had multiple lines to be kept track of, yet I was able to to pick it up after almost a week and be right back into it. Not once was I confused about who a character was or their relationships to the story.
The plot was full of unexpected turns and was built slowly and upon firm foundation all around. I am left with some loose ends, but I'm hoping that means another book.
The story is well paced. I didn't skip a word nor did I have to re-read to unravel overly complex detail not necessary to the plot.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2020So it was a little hard to get into, the names and locations were unusual so that was understandable. Keep reading, this was really so good. Lots of characters and kinda horrific, the Valk!! That was a little much for me. Loved the stories, the twists and most of all trying to figure out what that was from the past, where that was in the past. I read passages out loud to friends, trying to figure out what, as in a building from the past, that was. Not just a great epic story, a mind teaser, at least for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2020Some spoilers ahead.
I really enjoyed this series but gave it 4/5 stars due to pacing of the plot. Character development was average. I would have enjoyed more development of Sasha, Judas, Seren, Declan, and even Jonah.
The series needs more descriptive narratives of the various regions. Each location felt the same—same description of ruins, black pavement, carts (rusted cars), and trees. While each fight to battle was well written, there were far too many battles compared to character development and setting descriptions. More clues of the Valkerie Project needed. More background of Galax is needed. Galax residents were the perfect opportunity to explain blight and taint. I had a hard time determining what might be radiation versus viral or bacterial threat. Even an explanation from Galax of the possible volcano and earthquakes.
More explanation of why the annual migration was necessary is definitely needed. Seren survived a winter. Why couldn’t the Elk clan? Other than hunting and scavenging forests along the migration, I didn’t understand the point of the migration when leaders knew their clan would be attacked along the migration. How different was that from staying put for the winter and clans attacking home base?
In all, I ended the series feeling like the story was lacking but I did enjoy the read. The ending is set up for future books.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2019GJJT. have prepared an Ominubus of the five novels in the Dustfall series. The series is about life after a complete post apocalyptic occurrence which wipes out life on planet Earth as know it. The five novels show a leftover population divided into clans who finally get together to fight the enemy. Tis is an exceptional series for the genre. See additional comments on each individual novel.....DEHS
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2020I chose to read this series instead of sleeping, eating and I am embarrassed to say instead of doing all kinds of things I should have been doing. :). I rushed through the books eager to see what happened to the characters. When I got to the end of these books I slowed down..I didn't want it to end. I hope that someday they return to the story and write the next chapters!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great story but full of faults
I really enjoyed the "Thrown away" series but this one is full of missing words, letters and double words. I recommend a better lectorate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read....
Just loved the stories within the story and the different perspectives, very clever. Especially the wolves! Refreshing to read this type of novel with a different slant and the regression of mankind oppose to the usual survival without technology. It didn’t initially grab me in a “I can’t put this book down” read, but it certainly wound me in and in. A true pleasure to read and my only complaint is it finished! Dustfall gave me a week of sanity, making Covid19 2020 lockdown, just a little bit shorter.
