National Park Warden Ben Matthews expected challenges with his new posting at Cape Breton Highlands. But he got more than he bargained for. Set along the world-famous Cabot Trail, Dyed In The Green is a powerful story of egos, greed and corruption, pulling readers along on an emotional rollercoaster that weaves bitter rivalries into a gripping story about protecting one of Canada’s iconic, special places.

I have to admit, I had a hard time putting the Kindle down. I enjoyed Mercer's way of telling the story of a young park warden and what he goes up against. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

I read this book after reading "Wood Buffalo" by Mr. Mercer. I enjoyed this book almost as much! I went on to read his book which took place in Jasper Park, and would give it a five star rating. I enjoy his writing style and look forward to future books he may write.

Having lived and raised my children in Prince George, BC the locales for these stories are intimately familiar to me. George has a great well paced format to his writing, developing his characters (good and bad) well. A great story teller, I look forward to book 5 in the series. Be warned: the book is hard to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting!

An exciting read with a great sense of place... Does true justice to the men and women of The Warden Service

Having sped around the Cabot Trail in a warden truck with the tires squealing myself, Dyed In the Green put me right back into the west side of Cape Breton Highlands National Park with it's Acadian flavour and insider/outsider, locals/wardens dynamics. The book captures well both the sense of dedication the men and women of the warden service have towards protecting the national parks, and also touches on the conflicts - the park superintendent that doesn't mind the locals poaching deer as long as it keeps them happy - the casual poachers who are involved in major criminal enterprise on the side - the way wardens brought in from afar have to find their way among the locals and the local staff of their park.

Poachers, wardens, stake-outs and car chases - what more could you want in a fun read like this?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great storyline that will have you struggling to put the book down!

Loved this book! As a Caper, this book was just too hard to put down. Frequently going to the highlands, it was awesome to be able to create visuals along with the story. I have also read book #2 in the series, Wood Buffalo, it is also another great read. George has a great way of combining Canada's amazing national parks with stories that address real life issues within them. Can't wait to get into book #3 asap!

5.0 out of 5 stars compelling read and important themes

Real page turner with captivating, colourful characters and many plot twists that maintain the suspense throughout. The vulnerability of a national park is revealed through the acts of villains who seem at times to be unstoppable. A large cast of characters of community members, Parks staff and the Warden Service, RCMP, a Fisheries Officer and the justice system become engaged in an escalating struggle to protect a special place and values they believe in. Greatly looking forward to the next book in the series!
