Omega's Heart (Mercy Hills Pack Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 571 ratings

Too big for beauty...

All Felix wanted was what the rest of the White River omegas had--a mate, a home, pups. But when you tower over all your potential suitors, romance is hard to come by. Watching omegas ten years his junior get their happy ever after hurts more with each mating ceremony, so he begs his parents to let him move to Mercy Hills--not to find a mate, but simply to find a future where he isn't a dead weight dragging on those around him. Instead, he finds a cranky, broken, sarcastic alpha who is desperately in need of someone to sit him down and tell him how things are. And who looks at Felix like the sun shines out of his eyes.

"Your pack are a bunch of fools..."

Kaden came home from the Army heavier by the weight of a useless medal, lighter by several body parts, and with no real idea how to go forward. As he struggles to find his place in the pack, he takes solace in the company of the large omega sent to help him adjust. When Kaden discovers that Felix's size means he's never even been kissed, nothing will do for Kaden except to get the jump on all those other idiots who passed Felix up, mate this handsome creature, and give Felix everything his heart has ever desired.

"Come work for me and we'll change your world..."

Finding a mate is the easy part. As the Alpha's brother and decorated war hero, Kaden finds himself at the center of two political campaigns and must learn how to walk with a paw in both the shifter world, and the human one. And while he travels, courting the packs in a political campaign the likes of which the country has never seen before, he and Felix become an almost unstoppable pair, determined to forge new alliances between human and shifter, and lay the groundwork for their eventual freedom.

Omega's Heart is 256,000 words of slow burn passion between two exceptional shifters, warm family moments, surprising new friends, even more surprising new opportunities, political intrigue, and a turning point in the path that all the packs will eventually follow.

'Repetitive' is not the word one can associate with Mercy Hills Pack series. Each book shows us the different aspect of shifter society and culture: tradition, lore, social structure, mentality, laws, etc. Every new main character comes with their own baggage, and from different background, but in the previous books there has always been some similarities between them, especially in the case of the omega of the pairing. However this time we get something completely new. And I love it even more than every other novel in the series despite each being a fascinating and compelling story in their own right.

'Cliché' is also not a word one can associate with the authors' writing, but instead of listing every stupid plot twist that could have made it into the story, but never did I'll focus on the differences that make Omega's Heart stand out among already outstanding books of the series.

First of all, Mercy Hills Pack series was never about the instant love, but the romantic attraction has always been there in other novels from the very first meeting or started early in the story. This time everything starts with the friendship, and while attraction is present there somewhere between the lines, it's much more subdued than before. And I really like how both Felix and Kaden can relate to each other, each with very different background but carrying their own hurt hidden deep inside without the whole relationship getting romantic right off the bat. Also, that they are more friends than lovers is a really nice touch, especially with the many authors' tendency to make loving relationship more about passion and sex than anything else. And while romantic and erotic aspects of the relationship are as always well written and heart-tugging, it's the fact that both protagonists know and accept that they're not madly in love with each other (and that the wild passion is NOT the thing they're both looking for, but rather warmth, tenderness and companionship), which makes their slow burn romance so refreshing and so, so heartwarming.

That leads to the brightest star of the entire story, Felix himself (and while I loved reading about Kaden and like his character very much, it's his mate that really shines). A character full of contradictions and so intriguing because of them. At first glance there is nothing new about this 'do not judge the book by its cover' protagonist, but already in his introduction chapter he comes off as someone much more complex than one might expect. It happens really often, the protagonist with the appearance so much different than their personality, the menacing exterior hiding a teddy bear and sometimes even a doormat. Oh, but Felix has the spine alright and is nobody's pushover. Still, it's in his nature to care about others and make them happy even at cost of his own wellbeing. Felix is also so much different from other Mercy Hills Omegas, because despite his appearance making it easy for him to stand up for himself, he craves big and happy family, and doesn't mind being stay-at-home mate. Maybe it all comes from his family background and how he thought he'd never be able to get it, but all in all, his peaceful and quiet disposition and him not having big ambitions make surprisingly welcome change from our crusading fellows fighting on the front.

And with Felix comes something that has never been here before - welcoming, loving and present family. To be entirely honest, White River pack shifters and our omega's family have their own fair share in hurting him and making his situation difficult over the course of the story (and before). And while none of them is blameless, not one of them is openly or purposely malicious either. Never before in the series omega's family had so much (non hostile) role in the story and was so invested in their son's life. And I liked that very, very much.

Apart from the whole romantic plot we're also getting the continuation of different previous storylines like Julius and his sister's trial and some others, all of them getting satisfying and sometimes surprising conclusions. Oh, and the fight for shifters freedom continues and despite me mainly gushing over Felix and Kaden's plotline, the latter's political career is very important part of this story and gives the reader yet another opportunity to see how well-thought and detailed the whole universe really is.

Well, what's not to love or like here? There's everything to love and cherish here, because I don't think we'll be getting the next book anytime soon... Still, can't wait for another story.

It was SO worth the wait.

I love the Mercy Hills Pack series. This saga just gets better with each book. You will want to read the first six books in order. The bundles make it easier. This is a long book, but I was never bored. Lots of questions are answered, more still need answers. Differences in pack attitudes are revealed, and human politics are in play. It is a non- stop ride that will leave you breathless.
While all our old friends are here, welcoming us back into their lives, this book concentrates on Kaden and Felix. Home from the Army after losing part of a left leg, hand, and hearing , Kaden just wants to heal in peace. That is if his brothers, Quin, Abel and Cas let him. He doesn't expect to fall for the tall, gorgeous omega who is helping him. Felix left his birth pack for Mercy Hills after it became clear he had no future there. At 6'2 he looks more alpha than omega. But he is drawn to Kaden. He doesn't see a cripple, he sees the heart and strength under the tough exterior.
Kaden and Felix are well matched. Working for a senator with plans for the White House will take them to visit all the packs to gauge support, and readiness for the next round of Trusts.
Their road to HEA is filled with bumps, family angst, the power of the omega pack, a pregnancy, and politics. Ooh, did I mention they adopt a three legged former bomb dog? You will love this book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

I was so looking forward to Kaden and Felix's story. From the first time we met Felix he etched a spot in my Mercy Hill's heart. And I did so love the slow sweet way that their love came to fruition. Kaden is a disabled army vet, returned to his Alpha brother Quinns pack Mercy Hills to continue his recooperation and rehab after nearly dying from catastrophic injuries. Felix, being 6'0' is a giant for an omega, and the peeps at Mercy Hills have had a hard time helping Felix find his home niche. As a favor to Holland and Quinn, Felix agrees to become Kadens housekeeper/home helper for awhile til he gets on his feet. Big, broken, kind hearted Kaden is a perfect match for sweet Felix. Again, I loved their slow burn gradual love.
This is a very long book, filled with many subplots which I will not go into. I would say that if you have not read previous books in the Mercy Hills series, you will be lost.
For me this was a 3.5 stars. I loved Kaden and Felix. I always love catching up with Abel, Bax, Quinn, and Holland and the rest, but the subplots did overwhelm the romance a little. Still a wonderful read, a beautiful series and AK Byrde is an auto-buy for me. I do "heart" Mercy Hills.

It’s no surprise that I loved this book. These authors have an extreme amount of talent, and this series is a master piece as a whole and this book in particular is amazing. Yes, this is a long book, but every single word feels necessary and moves the story forward. No unnecessary rambling in Omega’s Heart! I just adored Felix, as I knew I would since we met him in Sanctuary, and Kaden is as wonderful as his brothers. I also really appreciated that this book flip flopped who in the Alpha-Omega relationship has had a harder past. In all the other books, the omegas have been abused and traumatized in some horrible way or were about to be. In this book, Felix lived a good and kind life, if one were people were cruel about his height and size. But Kaden, the alpha, is the one in this book who suffered horrible trauma and needed Felix to put his life back together. This does mean that there is a lot less angst in this book then the others, and for all this covers difficult topics it still reads as lighter and happier then some of the previous books in the series. I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir since no one is going to start with a book this late in the series, but gosh I can’t recommend this book enough! Perfection that I’m about to dive into immediately after finishing it.

Long awaited and far exceeded all expectations. Five star are not enough.

In Omega's Heart, we meet Felix White River, an omega that has grown larger than average, bigger than some alpha.
And Kaden Salma Wood, an Army veteran who lost one leg and parts of his hand during a mission. .
We know Felix from "Sanctuary" and "Omega's Flight", Kaden is mentioned in almost every book as he is the brother of Quin, Abel and Cas.
    .
Felix ask his parents and his alpha to be allowed to move to Mercy Hills because he longs for a partner and children.
He sees no chance in White River.
Holland and Quin welcome him with open arms.
    .
As Kaden is released from the hospital, Felix is his right hand, he helps him if Kaden can not continue alone.
    .
Omega's Heart also tells the story of Mercy Hills, the fight to finally escape from the prison of the enclaves.
Kaden gets a job with a senator and he and Felix travel to the other enclaves to see on the one hand what the next recipient for the Mutch Fund is, and also to convince the other shifters to vote in the next presidential election for the senator.
    .
Some of the enclaves have already been described in detail in the earlier books, so we meet old acquaintances. Felix hometown White
River is absolutely great and very amusing described.
    .
We also learn more about Los Padres and Nevada Ashes.
An all-round successful book that, like the previous books, is highly addictive.
    .
I am also totally in love with Felix and Kaden's adoptive child, Hunter, the dog who is saved by Harris (Quin's military friend). The story of Hartis (Harris and the Green Moon Granny) can be found in the second MH Bundle.
    .
The story of Julius and his sister Minnie is also told. .
And of course we meet again all Alphas, Betas, Omegas and of course humans from the previous books.
    .
With Mercy Hills, Ann-Katrin Byrde has created a truly Giant-Saga saga that I can heartily recommend to anyone who likes Shifter, Mpreg, and a damn good story.
