These three stories are wildly enjoyable and very well written. I easily sank into them and everything just flowed. The sex scenes were especially good---each one served a purpose, and either cemented feelings and emotions in the relationship, or showed us the depth of their love and lust for each other. The characters were given depth and we learned a lot about them without info dumping.

The dual POV of David and Julian was fun, and the slow ramping up of "omg when are they gonna kiss" was frustrating in the best possible way. But for me, Richard and Zack were the stars of the show. The first and third stories are about them, with a year elapsing between the two. Both are single POV, from Zack's perspective, and I laughed out loud many times at his shenanigans, while gasping at the passion the two share. I would love to read both stories from Richard's POV.

The worst thing about this is that it left me thirsty for more. Oh, SO much more. I could read a huge full-length novel about Richard & Zack, and want to see more about David & Julian as well. Lawrie is extremely talented, and her next work will be an automatic buy.

    4.25 Stars
What a charming duo of stories- sweet and cozy with the lightest layer of snark to keep it from being too saccharine, this trio of shorts is lovely.

The first story, Kind of a Big Deal, concerns Zach, a stand up comedian in his late 20s, and Richard, a VERY high powered politician operative in his early 40s. They meet, sparks fly, and these two opposites find out if there’s anything real between them. Told in single POV with Zach as our narrator, this is fizzy and fun.

The second story, For Services Rendered, is about Dr. David Christmas, a Scrooge ER doctor who has quietly crushed over his below-floor neighbor for the past two years. On Christmas Eve, said neighbor, Julian, appears in the ER with a twisted ankle and a need for some assistance getting back home. This story takes place over this one night, and David and Julian are lovely together. This is the most “Christmassy” of the stories, and it has a bit of that Christmas Magic to it in how everything unfolds, but I really enjoyed it. Sometimes you just want to read something that makes you smile, you know?

The third story, The Farringdon Club, is about Zach and Richard again. Now married, Zach has to figure out where and how he fits into Richard’s high flying world. He starts with Richard’s stuffy men’s club, The Farringdon. This one was almost, just right on the edge of being too sweet, and Richard and Zach are totally besotted with each other. But it was saved by some genuine cheek from Zach and a low stakes plot- never for a moment so you worry that anything will come between these two as Zach schemes and plots his way through the club.

Overall, really enjoyed reading it and will definitely add it to my Christmas Favorites list!

This writer has had my attention for a while because of her skill at the keyboard. Her way of writing queer romantic fiction is unparalleled. The stories about Richard & Zack and David & Julian give me hope for love even though I've been through heartbreak. The writing is quality, and heads above other romantic fiction I've read. Her style is easy to read while being smart. I finished these stories wishing I had what the characters did.

Things I love: Zack's ever-changing Twitter handle, Zack making trouble at the club (So...basically all of Farringdon), Richard not judging Zack for being too young or "crazy" with his blue hair, A character with the last name of Christmas and all the possible jokes you could make with that, the nickname "Mr. Upstairs," Julian's apartment, "Die Hard" is definitely a Christmas movie, oh, and the sex. The delicious sex.

It's brilliant, fresh, romantic, and sexy. Wonderful read, 10/10 recommend.

I read this book in two days and loved everything about it. EVERYTHING.

Zack and Richard are amazing together. I could spend book after book following their steamy, playful, opposites-attract relationship. (And I really wanna get drinks with Zack; we would get into so much trouble together.)

David and Julian were soooooooo sweet and fawning over each other OMG. And on Christmas, no less!

If you're looking for a wonderfully cheerful, fluffy, steamy, and holiday-themed book, this is the one you should buy. BUY IT BUY IT.

This contained three different stories involving two couples.

    Kind of a Big Deal

This is the story of Richard and Zack. To me, it was more of a summary of how they met and fell in love. We just see snapshots of the highlights of their love story. I do wish the author would have went into it more. I liked it but craved the details and not the sort of faded scene jumps. I still enjoyed what I read just wanted more of it.

    For Services Rendered

This is about Julian and David. Two neighbors who pass in their buildings stairwell but have never interacted more than small talk. One slippery shower that ends with a trip to the A&E changes that. This story is more of the beginning of their relationship which was nice.

    The Farringdon Club

The third was a revisit with Richard and Zack. I really enjoyed this one because we got more on the two. I would totally read a full story of them. Zack is a fun character and him and Richard together is just 😍 In this one Zack is introduced into Richards exclusive club where the who's who of political and business world spend time. Zack works his mischievous ways to bring some life to the club.

    Overall an entertaining read.

Let your heart be light is a perfect title. 2 couples 3 stories. Loved the 2 stories with rich, posh influential Richard and not posh comedian Jach. Complete opposites that are brilliant together.
This author writes so beautifully - I read this after her debut novel which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Anyone who's read my reviews knows how much I was surprised to have loved Red, White and Royal Blue, considering I doubted its quality because of the overwhelming positive reviews.

This is a new favourite gay romance, and I'm seriously considering making it tradition to read it every Christmas (definitely re-reading it this one).

Two love stories, separate but sweet and gentle, nonetheless. I am partial to Zack and Richard's story, and I am very glad at the ending.

Zack is adorable, like a pink haired puppy. And I live for Richard's love for Zack. It's so cute how protective he is of him.

Plus, it's kind of great that the man all of the powerful people bow to and scamper to heed his every whim, while also openly gay and married to a man.

Cannot over-recommend this book. I'm honestly tempted to re-read it straight away.

It takes a lot to make me blush, but the third one had smirking so hard that it was impossible to read in public.

The characters are most adorable, I couldn't pick a favourite. I'm absolutely in love with them. Very sweet, very loving, and delightfully funny. Hoping to read a lot more from Lawrie soon.

An absolute treat to read, a fantastic debut novel that was expertly written - I can't say that I've seen anything with a more accurate depiction of couples in love.

Zack and Richard made my heart melt - Seriously, where can I read more about these two? - The blend of charm, cuteness, romance, comedy and sex, keep the pages turning long after I would usually stop for a break.

David and Julian's meet cute is absolutely perfect and experiencing it from both points of view makes it all the more memorable.

All in all, I would whole heatedly recommend this book - especially if love Christmas.
