Home For Christmas: A Holiday Romance (Christmas Romance) Kindle Edition
For the first time in ten years, Lucy is going home for Christmas…
A corporate lawyer at a high-powered firm, Lucy’s days are spent fixing problems, brokering deals and making other people rich. Little does she know that going back to her small coastal village will be nothing like she expects and that the corporate world has already beaten her there.
Ange, a generational ocean fisher and Lucy’s ex, challenges Lucy’s way of living and working, immersing her back into the slow coastal life, giving them a second chance at becoming something, and reminding Lucy why she wanted to be a lawyer.
On her very first day back, Lucy finds out a large corporation threatens to alter the very heart and soul of the close knit community. Like always, she jumps into action, looking for a way for the villagers to fight back. Will it work? Or will their efforts be thwarted? And will Lucy and Ange get their second chance, or will history get in the way?
Home For Christmas is a romance about two driven women and their tight-knit group of friends who never really grew up. Set in an Australian coastal village, there are Santa races, Christmas lights and festive sand castles, a beloved lawn bowls club, a strong old broad named Nanna Ray, and so much more. It’s a comedy, it’s a drama, it’s a romance. It’s a story about finding and fighting for the things you thought you’d lost a long time ago.

About the author

A.J. Marchant. That’s me. Hi. I’m an Australian author, currently living in a small rural town but missing the grunge of the city and the relaxed coastal vibe that I enjoy.
Against all good advice, I’m an unapologetic genre-hopper. Which means I write stories in many forms— literary, romance, action & adventure, fantasy, crime & thriller— but I believe the most important part of a story are the characters, no matter in which genre they’re portrayed.
Like myself, my main characters are queer, gay, lesbian, pick your word (or don’t, I’m not one for labels either). But it’s their strength and the way they overcome whatever life throws at them that I like to push to the front. For the most part, sexuality plays a role only in the background. My hope is that it’s stories like these that become part of mainstream publishing, and mainstream media and entertainment as a whole.
I have no great story about how I became a writer. It isn’t something I’ve wanted to do since I was five. I wasn’t the kid in the back of the class scribbling down a story. Words were just my way to process as a teenager and young adult (they still are). They’re my way to think outside my brain and my body, a way to learn and know myself, the world, to pull myself out of a funk and up by the bootstraps, to write down the good and bad, both important and worth remembering.
The best I can say it is through the words of poet Andrea Gibson —
“I didn’t come here to write my heart out, I came to write it in.” (Truce)
Books have always been a part of my life. Stories of all kinds. As a teenager I was reading books most adults have never even picked up.
From the classics, to crime novels, to comics, to literary fiction— my parents never held back when it came to providing stories to read, always encouraging and scrambling to keep up as I tore through them on holidays. I can’t remember ever not having a book to read.
Speak what is on your mind. Write what is in your heart.
Drop a comment or get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2023Lucy hadn’t been home in ten years but this Christmas she would make it. The fact that her family would be on their boat was not panned out. Seeing her beloved Nanna Rae and former girlfriend Ange was only the beginning. Back with all her friends and working to be part of village life again was heaven. Saving the village from a corporate billionaire and getting her girlfriend back is the goal. A wonderful heartwarming story with hearts and love.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2021I really enjoyed this story. The author does a great job of making you fall in love with the characters. The story is told in a way that makes you feel like you're right there with them. Well done!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2023Everytime I think the next story just can't be as good, A.J. Marchant delivers more. Ange and Lucy are just the best couple who know each others heart. 10 years after Lucy has graduated from law school they still are not together and Lucy has lost home for herself. The story has wealthy, greedy and scrupulous people. It also has a group of people who have had each other's back since high school. It was a sweet time for this group and they needed to come together to save the place where they grew up and live. A delightful story with characters that just filled the pages.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2023Very good holiday story. You have it all romance, second chances, Mr scrooge nanna the villages heart, and a happy ending. What more does a good holiday story need. Thankd
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2021I do not generally read this type of book, only reason for the low rating. It is a good book so I see why the five stars rating is here. I feel this genre is needed and fills a purpose. It is not something I know enough about to be able to write it into any of my nonfiction books.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2022I really enjoyed this book. Second chance and a HEA. Who could want anything more? The dialogue was sound. I loved the band of friends since childhood.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2021An engaging well written story with an abundance of wonderful characters and an interesting story line. Could have been spiced up with a bit more sex and intimate romance. Overall, it was a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just in time for the holidays
It’s so refreshing to read a home grown story. One where’s there’s no snow at Xmas, but definitely sun, sand and surf. A.J. Marchant writes convincingly about Australian conditions with little snippets of cultural traits, (some say ‘peculiarities’), thrown into the mix. Here we have a love story about two childhood close friends and lovers, who haven’t really seen each other for ten years. Together with the residents of the small coastal town, they unite against a developer who wants to turn their idyllic town into a rich man’s holiday resort. This is a universal story and you can transpose this narrative to any setting. Oh, and did I mention it has barefoot lawn bowls!
