4.4 out of 5 stars 959 ratings

Jace Townsend loves his small beach town of Pineapple Grove in South Florida. Life is filled with sunshine, good friends, and jogging on the beach with his dog. What more could he ask for?

Love would be a great start.

After his last relationship fell apart, Jace doubts he’s ever going to find someone who would fit into his quiet life.

So, of course, fate would throw him a jaw-droppingly sexy movie star.

Trent Elrige is drowning in his so-called perfect life.

Still recovering from a violent encounter with a stalker, Trent escapes to Pineapple Grove to examine his life. Is he even happy anymore?

Pineapple Grove seemed the perfect spot to hide for six months. He just wasn’t expecting cupid in the form of four paws and a long, pink tongue to tackle him.

Jace is perfect. But coming out will not only turn Trent’s world upside-down; it’ll destroy Jace’s quiet life. Can he do that to this amazing guy?

Something About Jace is the first book in the Pineapple Grove series and contains a quirky small town filled with helpful friends, a movie star in hiding, a dangerous vandal, secret kisses, and a matchmaking dog.

This is a wonderful story of a movie star and a local art dealer. Handsome and world famous actor, Trent, nearing 40, took time off to relax at a Florida beach town. There he finds Jace, running the beach with his dog. Jace loves his town, friends, gallery and life is good, except for a vandalism problem lately. Trent and Jace have some dinners, but Trent isn’t out of the closet and needs privacy from reporters. So, Jace must keep them a secret. All of their kisses lead to more, and it is Trent’s first time he’s ever let himself be with a man. They have months of glorious times together, and Trent and Jace have never had this intensity of emotions, ever, and they are perfect for each other. Trent gets to meet Jace’s friends and sister, after awhile, but secrecy is crucial. Each man falls deeply, but what will happen when Trent goes back to work. We feel their anguish, the pain of thinking they won’t get to work out. Jace is attacked; Trent cares for him, and then Trents agent calls. Well written and we are wrapped up in the angst. We want them happy, because each man deserves the best.
    Highly recommended ! Enjoy !

It was great to meet Trent again after our into to him in Dom’s Ward Security story. Trent was such a fun and engaging character that it was nice to see him get his HEA with Jace. While the mystery aspect of this story wasn’t all that compelling, the romance was. I’ve seen other authors do this same sort of dating a closeted celebrity thing, so it’s not completely original, but I liked how they handled it.

But something is missing. This was an 'okay' read for me. But it didn't live up to my expectations of books from these two fabulous authors. I don't know if I didn't feel the chemistry between the MCs or if there wasn't enough of a mysterious drama at play like most of the books by these authors. I do enjoy their writing, though, and I will be sure to read the next book in the series. I do enjoy how the author sets up the friendship group so we 'know' the upcoming MCs.

I thought this was a really good start to a new series. I enjoyed reading about this small town, and about the sense of community this group of friends have managed to create. It was incredibly supportive and fun. I really liked Jace and Trent. They were incredibly hot together and the authors spent a lot of time making sure there was not an insta-love feel to this. They got to know each other before deeper feelings happened. I suppose for me personally I had hoped for some more angst, perhaps more action when it came to what was happening around town. At the very least something less mopey than what happened at the end. This story just fell a little too easily (and neatly) into place. It didn't really get my heart racing. I still enjoyed it and would definitely recommend if you want something hot, fun, and with a dog which will steal the show! But it wasn't the gritty romance I had hoped would be hidden here. Still, if you love m/m romance, love the Hollywood star/regular Joe, one closeted/one out and proud tropes then you will probably love this story. I look forward to the next one. I am definitely intrigued!

I really enjoyed this story. I loved reading about Trent's story is was absolutely wonderful and Jace is such a great guy. Jace didn't recognize Trent at first, but one he realizes who asked him out he freaks out a little but recovers and it really awesome with Trent. I like how it didn't matter to Jace that Trent was a famous actor. It's a great story with great characters and a HEA that made me smile and I didn't want to finish the story. I'm excited to read about the other characters in the future.

Great start to the new series! I love the fun and sunny atmosphere that shows another side of two of my favorite authors. It was wonderful to see Trent from “Sadistic Sherlock” again. I was really hoping we would see more of him. The interesting group of characters introduced in this first book promises great things for the rest of the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Light, sweet summer romance with no big surprises
Reviewed in Germany on August 26, 2019
Pineapple Grove/South Florida is a small cosy place for Jace Townsend. But each winter even here paradise sunshine, blue sea and sandy beaches becomes packed with „northern snowbirds“ escaping winter minus temperatures. Jace and his friends, owners of art gallery, shops and restaurants welcome the guests and the busy season. Just this year there is someone out destroying the murals of Jace's sister outside several shops disturbing them and their customers severely. But solving this mysery has to back up when Jace realizes that he and his dog have made friends with famous Trent Elrige, who stays incognito nearby.

At the beginning I struggled a bit with the introduction of all of Jace's friends and who was who and had what business. During the story I liked how they all truely cared for each other like a big family. Well, I really had liked Trent in „Sadistic Sherlock“ and had been looking forward to his own stroy. But I must admit I had somewhat hoped for „more“ for him than this low drama story of the great A-movie star and how, if at all he would come out after fast and deeply falling for Jace (and I certainly could have done without all those big Hollywood names). The bad guy of the vandalism was not really a big surprise either. I know compared to the Unbreakables and Ward Security guys its hard to shine on against, and maybe totally ordinary, predictable and sweet works for Jace & Trent, but not so much for me. Will give Pinapple Grove another chance though and check out Wesley's story when it comes out next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it - great read!
Reviewed in Australia on May 25, 2019
What a great read! And talk about hot! The chemistry between Trent and Jace was off the charts - and the sex scenes reflected that. It also wasn't more of the same each time - they switched things up, tried new things, and explored each other thoroughly. It definitely didn't get monotonous or boring!

I loved all of the characters - not only our 2 MCs, but all of their friends, including Jace's sister, too. We didn't see too much of Trent's world given he had escaped it to stay in Pineapple Grove, but that didn't detract from the story. Jake's friends were amazing - so very suppprtive, helpful and accepting. They were the sort of friends everyone needs!

The burgeoning relationship between Trent and Jace was well written, and also didn't seem too rushed. While they had amazing chemistry, they also talked with each other a lot and had a great friendship as the foundation to anything else.

The bit of a mystery with the vandal in the town was interwoven through the story. While we find out who was responsible for the final act, it was only ever insinuated that they were responsible for everything else - I felt that wasn't closed out as well as it could have been. That was my only complaint though, and such a minor one!

Looking forward to more in this series, and exploring what these authors have to offer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Groovy new series
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 28, 2018
This is a great start to a new contemporary romance series by the dynamic duo of Drake and Elliot, and carrying over the character of movie star Trent Elridge from Sadistic Sherlock (Ward Security book 4).
Trent meets life-long Pineapple Grove resident Jace when he rents a beach house for a long vacation after finishing his previous movie, and while waiting to hear about the next movie he's looking to star in. Jace's dog Ripley bounds up to the celebrity incognito and the two fall into an easy friendship that soon becomes more.
Meanwhile, a vandal is plaguing the grove by defacing various murals painted by Jace's talented artist sister.
It was a great read as the two try to figure out how to make a relationship work in the real world, especially as Trent isn't even out, and Jace, with the help of their friends, tries to figure out who the vandal is and catch the culprit before he gets hurt in more ways than one.

A decent read. Enjoyable, entertaining just not very original. There are a dozen stories exactly like this one out there. I know it's difficult to keep coming up with new ideas, impossible even, so you have to make your story stand out from all the others. This one is well written and like I said, enjoyable.
