Peter Bartram brings years of experience as a journalist to his Crampton of the Chronicle crime mystery series. His novels are fast-paced and humorous - the action is matched by the laughs. The books feature a host of colorful characters as befits stories set in Brighton, one of Britain's most trend-setting towns.

You can download Murder in Capital Letters, a free book in the series, for your Kindle from www.colincrampton.com.

Peter began his career as a reporter on a local weekly newspaper before editing newspapers and magazines in London, England and, finally, becoming freelance. He has done most things in journalism from door-stepping for quotes to writing serious editorials. He’s pursued stories in locations as diverse as 700-feet down a coal mine and a courtier’s chambers at Buckingham Palace. Peter is a member of the Society of Authors and the Crime Writers' Association.

Colin Crampton, Crime Reporter for the Chronicle - amazing, creative, intuitive, articulate and wise-cracking guy — with his Australian girlfriend, Shirl, who is up for anything, investigate and solve crimes, which provides the fodder for his newspaper articles. I just can’t put these books down and go to the next one as soon as I finish a book. Peter Bartram has created characters who are real and fascinating and weaves them through mysteries that are complex and a surprise to the reader. Love them!! Please write more!

Super entertaining tome ... filled with lots of humor and a wise-cracking main character. Really one continuous story broken into three segments. I deducted one star because after reading the first stand-alone segment for free, I was forced into paying for the second and third parts without being warned aforehand (is that a British word?). Fool me twice, shame on me. Bartram has a great writing style (love the metaphors) and I will look forward to reading more of his works.

This mystery is intriguing and gripping with non-stop action. Matt Jamie is phenomenal with the voices and accents. This is an excellent audiobook!

I love Peter Bartram's novels. They are all good stories told in a light-hearted manner, somewhat reminiscent of Laurance Sanders' Archy McNally!

One story in 3 parts. Set in the 60s, a crime reporter finds himself getting deeper and deeper. Often humorous but still capable of generating suspense.

Or is it? Who knows, enough to make you think anyway. The sixties might be a lifetime away for some readers but having grown up in them I keep forgetting that mobile phones weren’t a thing and why not just search the internet! Great stories with a really likeable protagonist and his feisty girlfriend!

By no means the best crime fiction I've read, but enjoyable enough for a rainy day.
