Another Crampton of the Chronicle story put to bed. A quick trip to the States for information, avoiding death, and an ending that leaves much (like answers) to be desired. It's a good thing I've got MURDER IN THE NIGHT FINAL to satisfy the itch that unanswered questions in a mystery leave me with.

    Highly recommended!

This short novel is the second of the Morning, Noon, and Night Trilogy. It's a fast moving fun story to read. The author provides lots of humor to make you chuckle. The crime takes place in Brighton, England, but Colin Crampton suspects to find another clue in Coney Island, New York. This clue will place him in extreme danger. The characters are unique and humorous ... even a pet python, a clumsy villain, and a stripper (yes, a woman)! A very entertaining story to give you an hour or two of fun and relaxation. Enjoy!

Very enjoyable story. The author’s writing mode is funny even though the subject matter is serious. I’m looking forward to book three so the final puzzle can be completed.

Murder in the Afternoon Extra is the second book of The Morning, Noon and Night Trilogy.

I continue to enjoy Colin Crampton story.

In the second book we get to go visit New York, USA. It is a lot of fun. It makes me want to go to New York again. My heart beats fast when he encounters (fake) ghosts!

Have to read the third book fast!

I am totally enjoying this series. It's a fun read with great characters. Can't wait to read the third book and find out the scoop!!

I hate books which are not complete. Peter has broken this story into three book and It should be one. I will read the third book, but will not continue to follow this author. There are plenty of authors who respect their readers and make their books a complete story even when their book is part of a series. The second book is even more disappointing than the first, no ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars This newspaper-centred novella is a real page-turner (excuse the pun!)
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 22, 2018
"Murder in the Afternoon Extra" shows how cosy crime can pack a punch.

In this second feature edition of the 'Morning, Noon and Night Series' the 60s nostalgia not only continues but teams up with a wealth of action, taking full advantage of its locations to bridge both sides of the Atlantic in an extravaganza of trains, planes and automobiles.

As crime reporter, Colin Crampton, gives the criminal fraternity a run for their money he begins to join the dots between Brighton, USA and Brighton, England and wakes up to smell the coffee – landing that big story he’s chasing may be tempting, but it’s certainly not good for your health.

This newspaper-centred novella has all the attributes of a genuine page-turner (excuse the pun!): a strong plot, great tempo, with a few perfectly timed laughs thrown in. But don’t jump in feet first (as Colin often does). Take your time to read book one first or you could find you’ve ‘lost the plot’!

5.0 out of 5 stars From Brighton beach to Brighton Beach
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 12, 2017
I've loved all the Crampton of the Chronicle stories, so when this trilogy was released I bought all 3 together. They're light hearted romps; usually in and around Brighton, with Colin getting himself caught up in something shady, Figgis his boss who's usually breathing down his neck, and Shirley his Aussie girlfriend in tow.
This time however, Colin flies across the pond to Brighton Beach in the U.S, and gets himself involved with a shady ex dancer that used a python called Percy in her act. An extremely dodgy Mafia boss, a newspaper on its last legs, and then almost gets murdered himself.
A thoroughly great and amusing series of books without the usual gore and violence of most crime novels. I've always said that if Colin wasn't a journo, he'd make a very good detective.
Onto to number 3 to find out what happens next.....

Colin Crampton travels to Brighton Beach USA in book 2 of the trilogy. I was not sure that it was a good idea to take our hero away from home but I must admit I was wrong. Having read all the 3 parts I have to say that this was my favourite. Fast paced and fun to read as always. Well drawn characters and cracking dialogue.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy Reading

Easy to read stories but gripping as you want to know what happens next. Is Colin Crampton lucky or stupid, facing the hired killers on his own?
