One More Day Kindle Edition

She dropped out of college to pay her bills. Now, her medical test results are back and they say it's cancer. As if that isn't bad enough, getting laid off means Mackenzie is broke. No money, no friends, and right now, she could really use a shoulder. It's the worst day of her life. Not even meeting the Super Hot Guy from the coffee shop can make it better.

Or can it?

Ryan had been trying to get the nerve to talk to her for months. This time, the beautiful artist isn't lost in her work. Nope, she's distracted by something else. Something that brings tears to those gorgeous eyes. It's the excuse he needs to finally get the nerve to say hi. She needs a shoulder and he's more than willing to give it - plus a job that lets her use her art. Besides, a wise man keeps his muse very close.

Maybe a tattoo parlor isn't the best place for a girl with cancer to work, but rent still has to get paid. Plus, spending time with her hot boss is pretty nice. Maybe too nice? His shy smiles make her stomach flip... or that could be the chemo. It all comes back to her cancer, it seems, but she finally has a reason to keep fighting. Not that some sick, bald girl is going to impress anyone, but if she can just get better, then maybe she'll finally get the chance.

It doesn't take long for her secret to come out, but Ryan isn't going to lose this girl. Not because he's her boss, not because he waited too long to make a move, and he's certainly not going to let some disease screw this up. She thinks the cancer is going to win, but he has other plans. He just needs one more day to prove it, but she may not give him that option.

***Possible Sensitivity Notice*** The female main character in this book has cervical cancer and goes through treatment over the course of this story. However, this is a romance novel and has a Happy Ever After.

Review

One More Day delivers a modern day tale of a knight and his princess slaying a dragon that many fight every day. Auryn had me shedding tears while gaining insight and hope. I was not the same person after reading this book than I was when beginning this literary journey, that to me is a sign of a truly talented author.
She brings a story to life with complex beautiful characters and an illness that continues to touch and steal lives on a daily basis. Hadley delivers a cloud with a blinding silver lining and a breathtaking rainbow at the end. I highly recommend for an inspirational love story with substance, heat, and laced with humor."

Auryn Hadley is an American girl who swelters in the summers with her husband, three dogs, and the neighborhood cats. Her coffee addiction is impressive and allows her to keep writing the next book. Her husband keeps telling her it's great, even though he doesn't like to read, so she ignores him.

With a degree in biology, a few decades in gaming, and a love for all things out of this world, she writes across genres looking for the story that is begging to be told. From love to loss, hopes and dreams, there's always an escape waiting inside the pages of her books. She tries to capture the idealism of New Adult literature while addressing more adult topics because life doesn't get any less exciting when you grow up.

I LOVED this book!!! What I say now is for the author of this book...if this book is not part of a sequel you will be cheating, yes cheating, your readers. We MUST have the story for our other young man and I want one also for the mysterious Tony. I call him mysterious because of one paragraph you placed in this book. OK...my demands are out of the way...for now.
I have lost three family members to cancer within 8 months of each other so what in Heaven's name am I doing reading a book about cancer? I have no clue other than to say that I wanted to see how "real" this author would make the story. Had she done her "cancer homework". Those of us who have stood by and watched or cared for our loved ones know, oh we know, when it's real and when it's fake. In the hands of Ms. Hadley this story is given life and hope. For cancer survivors or for those who don't survive it is all they hope and wish for...another day. Another day brings us one day closer to a cure for the various forms of this equal opportunity destroyer of lives. She masterfully wove a story that at times was heartbreaking and at times funny. Gallows humor it what we call it at times. Each of the three primary characters are very complex and she has also given us a cast of side characters who I want to know more about (Tony). The story...well it told me every thing I need to know about this gifted storyteller. She is sincere, honest, skilled, and took me to the edge of this magical piece. She paid homage to every person who has had, has, or will have this disease. Not with pity but with truth, hope, and drive. If anyone happens upon this review please do not shy away from the content of this story. You will feel better and you will "be" better for having read this book. As for Ms. Hadley...I beg you to continue this series...it is essential that you do not let this series go until you have finished...and this story is far from over. Amazing job! denise bailey

I buy almost anything that Auryn Hadley or her alter fantasy A. H. Hadley writes. I automatically bought this to include in my collection, but kept postponing reading it, because it wasn’t reverse harem, or fantasy genre related. I started it today, and finished it in one sitting. Such a great story, Mack, Ryan and Colby my heart adores them. Be warned cancer plays a main theme. Anyone who’s had a family member go through, the horror and tragedy that cancer usually inflicts, needs to read this beautiful love story. Thank you Auryn, please write a series or a sequel, so that we can revisit that love and hope can win.

Pretty good story, might make you cry on the plane in front of strangers. Felt nice and self-contained, though I wouldn't mind reading more about the characters. It's nice to have a conflict that isn't caused by someone just being a horrible person.

A story of one woman's terrible experience as a damsel in distress rescued by a modern day Hero and Knight - much better than any prince charming (although I honestly feel that while one hero was her beloved, Colby damn well qualified as a dashing Knight too)

The characters were diverse, multifaceted and came through as believable, flawed and perfect. It was a quick perfect tie up of circumstances (not counting the intense struggle against cancer) but I loved the feel good squishy read.

This is the story of war and love. Not the kind of war that is fought just physically but the epic battle one fights against illness when it invades. Not just love of a romantic nature but those myriad degrees of caring from caregivers in the medical field, to family and friends, fellow fighters and finally lovers. And it's also about the minor battles we face everyday regarding the way we see ourselves and others.

Also I love how this book hits the point that treatment, whether it's successful or not, is a battle of the most epic proportions.

Your work and the effort and realism it incorporates are a tribute.

Anyway, if you haven't read this yet I sincerely suggest that you do. Also. Tissues. And a pillow, pet or person to hug. I suggest those too.

    Thanks for writing

This has to be one of the best books I have ever read. From the first moment we meet Mackenzie Lawrence, we love her and start rooting for her. She could easily be my best friend. She's sweet, funny without knowing it, and talented. What more could you ask for in a heroine? When she has the day from heaven and hell all at once, you want to hug her and stand by her side.
Enter Ryan, her from a far crush and add the facts that he's charming, caring, gorgeous and talented. He comes riding in on his white stallion ready to save Mackenzie, literally and figuratively. Ryan also brings to the table a super cool and supportive best friend, Colby. A pierced, tattooed hunk that is instantly bonded with Mackenzie. He's witty and truthful and sincere. While Mack doesn't think there's any way her hunk crush, Ryan has those types of feelings for her, she's happily wrong.
The roller-coaster that the author brings you on is amazing. You're up and down and every which way with this cast of wonderful people. I laughed out loud as I was reading this book, and cried some serious tears too. But you can't put it down as you read to see if Mack will have One More Day.
I cannot wait for the chance to read more from Auryn Hadley. She is amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely story

I was intrigued by the synopsis of finding love while dealing with cancer. I like stories that are a little different and thought this may tug at the heartstrings (fingers were crossed for a HEA). Ryan and Mack's romance was even better than I hoped. Both the MCs were so relatable and likeable. Ryan in particular was beyond lovely, a truly nurturing and gentle man covered in colour. The journey dealing with the cancer was detailed and authentic without being needlessly exaggerated to be scary. No need to do that when the reality of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment is so confronting. I felt the author took the reader into that world with a respectful and gentle purpose. What truly made this so enjoyable though, was just how the two MCs loved each other so selflessly.

This story did not contain all the usual sick heroine meeting strong knight character. There was some classic trope but mostly a lot of feelings. It was very nice to read and the length of the novel made the romance more believable. Not like meeting one page and in love the next.
