Peace on Earth (isn't what what we're good at): An Assassin Christmas Carol Kindle Edition
Jane has problems, and this December, keeping her assassin best friend from actually killing somebody isn't the biggest one. Her songwriting muse keeps trying to rise from the dead, they have a new sidekick they can't seem to dislodge from the back seat, and it's that time of year when the ghosts of Christmas shake their chains and make an unbearable season even worse.
Peace on Earth isn't what they're good at - but it's coming for them anyhow. Which isn't anything a couple of assassins want for Christmas.
(Previously published as Lesbian Assassins, which was a nod to how the story got started, and a terrible description of its contents. Heavily revised to become the tale of holiday redemption Carly & Jane apparently always intended to become!)

About the author

I tell stories of hope, resilience, belonging, and finding what (and who!) matters. I do that in a lot of different genres, but you’ll always get those things in an Audrey Faye book. :)

- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2025Inspiring, non stop can’t put it down book. Awesome story. Loved every moment. Terrific ending that made things right in the world.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2022When I discovered Audrey Faye a while back I knew that she had an assassin series but at the time I was more interested in her KarmaCorp series and so I never got to that series. Fast forward a few years and I finally read her Ghost Mountain series and became desperate to read more books with that amazing character driven quality of hers. So I went to find the assassin series that I knew I had seen previously but I couldn't find it anywhere.
With a little research and digging I found out that it was a short series of novellas and she rewrote the whole series and accompanying short story into a single book, taking out and adding a little through the rewrite process making it into one cohesive tale and showing the overarching Christmas story within the tales. That rewrite is this book. After figuring out this was a rewrite of that series and not a continuation I jumped in to read it.
This was such a fun holiday read. I loved getting to know each of the characters in this fabulous and fun character driven book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a character driven story or who has read and enjoyed a book by Audrey Faye before.
Romance Content: Clean. Snuggles and hugs. Mentions of sex happening but none on the page.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2018I love the "Assassins" and was first surprised I was already familiar with the book....then the next wonderful surprise, the last part is new! So glad I hung in there. Of course I couldn't skim over any of it. The story grabbed me in again!
I recommend this retelling that does more than just re tell....it completes the story. Sure there's room for more, but this much of an ending is priceless. Thank You Audrey for your Christmas gift. I enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2018It’s deja vu all over again. If Audrey roped you in with her other books, it’s time to meet Carly and Jane, her badass assasins who started it all. Tragedy caused one of my favorite authors to assume a new nom de plume and to change her writing focus. Painful for her, but lucky for us. Audrey’s stories are about acceptance and belonging. Her characters are folks you’d like to have coffee with. Armistead Maupin once said that we have two families: biological and logical. Ms Faye does an amazing job of blending them together. I can’t decide if Audrey is Rosie or Mrs. Beauchamp; I suspect a cross between the two. So grab a bag of kale chips and come along for the ride!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2023It seemed a bit slow at first as if I were missing a first book. But then it started to come together. It's story telling at its best.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2018It is heavily rewritten, but is still the story of how Lelo hires them to save her sister (and much more). Personally, I think it’s worth having the new, expanded version, but for anyone out there who would be upset at buying a previously purchased story, be aware of what you are getting before you purchase.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2019Jane and Carly met three after they each had very traumatic experiences. Together they were able to mostly patch each other up and build so,e sort of lives. However, a new series of circumstance plus a psychopath from one of their cases are forcing them to reevaluate their situation. It’s time for them to start living again and not just surviving.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2019I liked everything about all of her books.
I would recommend Audrey Faye to anyone who has a heart.
I give Audrey Faye a five star because she touched everything in me that make me a human and with a heart. If you don’t have a heart then don’t read her books.

4.0 out of 5 stars High hopes...
I had high hopes for this to be as good as the author’s other works. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t live up to that standard. Perhaps it’s the title it doesn’t quite honour. Not enough lesbian. Not enough assassins.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely feelgood story for Christmas
Jane is a troubled woman, let down by a previous relationship, and her partner in crime Carly has had even worse experiences. They reclaim their power by rescuing other women from abusive men and they keep themselves apart from other people because of their need to hide in the shadows. Only it turns out that keeping other people at arm's length isn't actually working out so well.
It's a story that claims to be about assassins for hire and has no graphic sex or violence (and not even any swearing that I noticed.) In realitiy it's about the redeeming qualities of love and friendship and it brought a happy smile to my face.
A longer version of the story was previously published as separate books under the Lesbian Assassins title. If you've got all the Assassin books already, this is a better version and worth the current price of 99p.

2.0 out of 5 stars very disappointing
I am a real fan of Audrey Faye and Deborah Geary and have purchased most of her books and loved them but this on just left me nowhere to the point that in all fairness I didn't even finish it first time through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Assassins ride again
This story sees a several happy endings in a tale of whimsy, buns, flowers and psychopaths.
A beautiful heart-warming tale for Christmas.
