Plane Love: (Honoring Those Who Serve Book 4) Kindle Edition
Lainey
It’s my brother’s fault I’m in this mess.
Flying is my number one fear. And what does he do? He chooses a destination wedding in Ireland, all the way across the Atlantic. So, before I board the metal deathtrap, I knock back a drink… or two… or possibly three, just to calm my nerves.
And now I’m so drunk, I can’t think straight.
But I’m sober enough to know my seatmate is the sexiest guy I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Xavier
I’m sitting next to the most adorable girl I’ve ever seen.
Well, almost adorable. She’s a little tipsy. Strike that. She’s plastered. But we still manage to hit it off. Behind that sarcastic booze-fueled mouth is a girl I could really fall for.
Too bad she has no idea I’m in a wheelchair.
I’m not afraid of flying, but I’m terrified of how she’ll feel when she finds out the truth.
Plane Love is a 27,000 word standalone novella and part of the Honoring those Who serve collection of short stories.

About the author

Avery Kingston writes sexy, emotional romance featuring wounded characters at a high heat level.
Avery is a wife to a man who’s demons play well with hers. Mom to a slew of crazy kids. Dog lover. Crazy cat lady. Artist. Free spirit. Lover of unusual beauty. Fitness junkie. Collector of boots and fonts. Angsty drama addict and avid wearer of yoga pants.
Avery is a military wife and a sucker for a good wounded hero story. She set out to write stories where the leading characters were smart, sexy, confident and strong. Avery began writing the type of romance novels she would want to read. Stories about real couples, wounded either physically or emotionally, with an open door into their steamy bedroom.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2020This is an amazing little story. I love reading about disabled Heroes and heroines, how they persevere day after day, and the details of how they do it. They're so brave. And even more satisfying is when they find the one and have their happy ever after.
Lainey is attracted to the handsome, kind and charismatic guy sitting next to her on the plane to Ireland. Xavier finds her quirkily enchanting, despite her drunken chattiness. But he isn't sure how to tell her that he isn't exactly what she expects. They uncover each other's secrets and erase each other's fears while on the way to finding their HEA.
You can read this sweet little story in one day and you probably will because it's hard to put down. The first 30% is so so funny and the rest is gloriously heartwarming. For a short book there are many incredibly effective and wonderful scenes, as well as great character development. The dance scene in particular visually sums up their relationship—their chemistry, their mutual lust for life, and how they bring out the confidence and joy in each other. And may I just say bravo on the cover. That's exactly the way I picture Lainey—bubbly and gleeful—and that's exactly the way I see them together.
This story will leave you smiling and perhaps looking to read more books from this 'Honoring Those Who Serve' collaboration. Take a little break and enjoy this. I promise it will leave you happier than when you started.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2022The story was really good it's only getting 4⭐ because of a few mistakes but it didn't take away from the story at all, if I could give it a 4.5 that would be my rating. It's also a 1.5 in spice. I actually loved the parts with Lainey and Xavier together at the wedding and the fight between Xavier and Gibson was hilarious! I'm not gonna lie I wish it was longer!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2023Thanks to my friend for recommending this one, which I actually read on a plane!
Lainey is about to board a plane to attend her brother's destination wedding in Ireland. Small problem: she's terrified of flying, so she knocks a few drinks to give her the courage to actually board the metal death trap. Well, she overdid it. She's sober enough to see that her seat mate is the sexiest man she's ever laid eyes on. A little rude, as he wasn't gentlemanly enough to get up so that she could get to her seat.
Xavier is sitting next to the most adorable girl he's ever met. Well, she drunk as a skunk, but they still managed to hit it off - even when she basically throws up on him! He's been trying to let her know that he didn't stand up because, well, he can't. He was wounded in action and now uses a wheelchair. She leaves the plane on a rush and he can't just run after her... But destiny had plans for them. He's going to Ireland to attend his best friend's wedding - Lainey's brother.
This was a short, delightful story. I loved seeing a hunky MC that is a little different. He's absolutely swoony and sexy; he just needs helps to move about.
I loved how things develop between them in Ireland and I would have loved for this to be a full length book. They're adorable (and steamy) together. Great fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2023I picked this up as the hero is a wheelchair user. This flowed well for such a short story and the way Lainey doesn't blink at Xavier's limitations and goes with it was really sweet. It was interesting to know more about what Xavier's everyday is like with a wheelchair as his mobility aid.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2020I LOVED this book. This was a laugh out loud Romantic Comedy that kept me asking for more. I'm not one for explicit sex scenes so I was very pleased when this one gave me enough of the details to curl my toes but didn't go over the top. I like the switching POV's between the main characters and the raw honesty of a girl seen at her worst (drunk on a plane). She was open, honest, had grit, and made me laugh at her blunders. I love how she is open to dating someone in a wheel chair and not judgemental but ready to see where love could take them. My only issue with the book: it's too short! I so wanted more. A quick read at only 85 pages but had me happy & fulfilled with an adorable HEA. I would love to see a sequel in their lives to see how some of the challenges they're about to face can be overcome. I can't wait to see what else Ms. Kingston (the author) has on her shelf that can give me an afternoon escape as I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This story was heartwarming, sexy, funny and just a joy to read.
I’m a little sad it was short and over too soon.
Xavier and Lainey no the let their walls down, showed each other their vulnerability and embraced it with open hearts.
All the feels and so much more!
Another hit by Avery Kingston, strong, quirky and feisty heroines with strong, alpha heroes with hearts of gold are her niche and I was not disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2019Avery Kingston has done it again!! I loved Plane Love!! Xavier and Lainey had me riveted to me sofa. I laughed and twared up in several parts! You couldn't help but fall in love with these two!!
I loved the banter that Lainey comes up with when meeting Xavier!! Talk about word vomit!! She was so much fun to read. She is the funniest I've read in a while!
I loved seeing the vulnerability of Xavier. I totally want an X for my very own!!
The scene where they see each other at the destination and then the dance scene was the BEST!!! Another scene was where Lainey is reminiscing about her brother that had me laughing out loud!! (I read it to my friend and she said that's what stinky boys do to sisters!!) Made me laugh all over again. Sigh.. I loved the ending.. For such a short read it packs one hell of a story!! I need more from Lainey and X...

5.0 out of 5 stars I want more!
Wow! I read this in a couple of hours without knowing a hit g about it, and can’t wait to read more from this author! This was my first! The story is funny and heartfelt. Witty and real. I loved how she didn’t just glazed over the leading guy’s disability, but made me put myself in his shoes -so to speak- and his struggle, but his bravery and drive were uplifting. The leading girl was amazing, strong and direct. Amazing short story. I need to read more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rolling away with love
There is always something about men who never hides their disability and vulnerability that makes them lovable. The way Avery Kingston treated Xavier's story which I'm pretty sure some veterans are going through, deserves a medal. Again, her descriptive nature made us see how they deal with their situation and make the most of it. Love that we are given a heroine who looks beyond the disability of our hero and instead falls more in love with him...just the way he is! A beautiful fitting tribute to our veterans.
