- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2019Ok so Promise Me is the second book in the series and enjoyed this book as well! It picks up where book 1 left off, it doesn't have as much action but it does go into Clinton's homelife and you get to read about Cecilia's story as well. Clinton's dad is so mean and cruel I hope he gets his in the 3rd book! I love how Rae and Clinton's relationship progresses in this book and the developing friendship of Clinton, Alison, and Michael. The end absolutely crushed me but I can't wait till book 3 "Stay With Me" I will be impatiently waiting lol. I definitely recommend this series I absolutely love it!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 20193.5 Stars! Clint and Rae's story continues in Promise Me, picking up right where we left off in Play With Me.
Summary:
Rae Cleaver never knew how strong she could be. Not until it came time to save Clint Clarke’s life. When the worst happens, Rae stands by her man. She’ll do whatever it takes to bring Clint back from the dark, and keep him with her. But is Clint ready for this life-changing transition? He’s fighting for his life, but also his freedom. The demons he carries are very much still present, and he’s not entirely sure if he deserves to lay them to rest. But Rae’s attention and care can work miracles. For the first time, Clint finds himself with a loving and supportive foundation. A foundation that will help him become the man he’s always been meant to be. But which way will he turn when part of that foundation is threatened, and he must finally stand tall against his greatest enemy? An enemy that he’s all too aware that he could become. Will he hold tight to the good he’s found or turn away with hopelessness?
*************************
Book one left us all on a tragic cliffhanger, so there was no way I wasn't reading book two. I'm not usually a fan of cliffies, but after starting Clint And Rae's story, I couldn't put it down. I was so proud of Rae in this book. She is incredibly strong given her young age, and has probably lived more life than she should have to. The courage she showed when helping Clint was amazing, and the support she gave after was very mature. I was also extremely pleased to see her stand up and be heard on her feelings about D.J. Clint's growth in this book was extreme. We see so much deeper into who he is underneath the anger and hostility. I loved seeing him become more aware of his peers and the world around him. Not just trying to escape from what his life has been. He wants more from life nowadays, and is truly starting to believe he deserves to have it. As a couple, Clint and Rae were solid. They stuck by each other through the entire accident ordeal, and through Clint’s transition from the bully group at school. The intimate scenes were intense and steamy. The emotion they put forth could clearly be seen when they were together. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a bit slower paced with not as much action as book one. This was not a bad thing. The storyline focused on Clint and Rae’s relationship (love), and character development. Especially, a few characters we didn’t know much about. I came to really like Michael in this book. He was a great friend to Rae, and really stepped up when it came to letting Clint into their click. I’m really curious to see what his reaction is after this heartbreaking cliffhanger, though. I also adored getting to know Cecilia. It’s rare that we truly get to know the adult characters in books like this one, but Rebel made Cecilia an open book. I really hope, after all she’s been through, that she gets and HEA, too, and that Clint doesn’t lose her maternal presence in his life. Howard continues to be the worst parent in history, and I hope he gets his comeuppance. As for Rae’s mom, I’ve pretty much given up on her. I’m not sure if she’s just lazy or needs the hell D.J. puts her through, but she isn’t doing right by her daughter, and I hate that. I also don’t understand D.J.’s sudden interest in all things Rae. Sometimes. It’s a little weird, and without knowing more, I’m not sure what to do with the information. I loved the relationship and character development in this book. I feel like I connected so much easier with everyone and their emotions. That said, I was a little frustrated because it felt that a lot of things were repeated over and over. I could have done without the cutesy cheesiness of Michael and Aly’s relationship. It was just a little too sweet when running parallel to Clint and Rae’s relationship. I mean, they freaked over holding hands. I could see that in book one, but by this one, they should be over it. The writing in Promise Me flowed well, and didn’t fall into the same cheesy drama as the end of book one, which I am forever grateful for. I was engaged until the last word, chewing my nails with the anxiety of what would happen next. And with that emotional cliffhanger, I’ll be impatiently awaiting the third and final installment to Clint and Rae’s story.♡
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2019I liked the first book, but wasn't crazy about it. This book changed my thoughts on the series. There's a cliffhanger at the end, and though I was able to predict it, and don't think it is a massive cliffhanger, I'm still dying to get the nextbook. I don't have the slightest clue when it comes out, but this book was amazing, and I will be rereading it in the meantime. I definitely recommend this series, based on this book alone. Can't wait to read what Hart has next for Clint and Rae
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2019You have to wonder, why, why are people so cruel & heartless. This book shows that rich or poor, happiness is not guaranteed. Behind closed doors, some families hide a multitude of sins. This book was well written, touching on things which for me brought back memories. Clint bullied others cos he was bullied, Rae wasn't rich & lived in the wrong neighborhood, but was still brave & fearless, a warrior maiden. Awesome storyline, totally worth reading
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2019I thought part one was really good. Part two was ok. I dont like books that has cliffhangers. It means the author will try to drag it out for as long as she can even though some things have become long and slow paced. I hate it but other readers eat it up. This book was alright. Nothing special.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2019Wow this book gave me whiplash!
I was so happy for our lead characters and the growth we saw in this book. Their relationship developed into something deeper and the minor characters played a more important part in the storyline.
I will say I enjoyed this book however not as much as the first. It seemed to drag a bit in the middle but I think that was because it was necessary to build up to the ending of this book SPOILER ALERT 🚨
- Cliffhanger ending As well as what the next book in the series will bring! It better be good!🤨 That ending man ! Ugh
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2019This series is out of control amazing. I was hooked from the beginning and loved it so much I read both books twice in anticipation of book 3. I just love Clinton’s character and how both his strength and vulnerability shine through page after page. I am now a Rebel Hart fan for life and cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2019After anxiously waiting forever for this book to come out after the gut wrenching end to the first one, I finished it in 24 hours! I seriously couldn't put it down and once it was down, I instantly pre-ordered the next one! Rebel Hart has quickly become a favorite author to me and I can'y wait to see where Rae and Clint's love goes from here!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreakingly beautiful!!
Promise Me is book 2 in the trilogy and I was so pleased it started exactly where book 1 ended. I found this to be a very emotional book and could really feel the connection between the main characters Rae and Clint. Another great read, now looking forward to book 3 Stay With Me .

4.0 out of 5 stars Compelling love story
The storyline to this book is definitely letting us get a background view to the love they share and the support they have. It also outlines their obvious differences leaving you thinking will they survive all that’s trying to pull them apart. The cliffhanger to book has got me on the edge of my seat. I say Bring on ‘Stay with me’
*I love Rae and Clinton its the same but different as all high school bully romances so far. There are many elements to this story that have me wondering were will Rebel Hart take these characters. I am Enthralled with their journey because they have got a lot going against them. So I am looking forward to the next book in series ‘Promise Me’ after an amazing cliffhanger.

3.0 out of 5 stars Obsessed with the word 'snickered'? 🙄
Honestly I was so distracted by it that by the 12th chapter I counted and the book has the word 80+ times 🤭
