Reborn (Rise of the Realms: Book One): An Urban and Epic Fantasy with Evil Fae Kings and Queens Kindle Edition
That got your attention, didn’t it?
Good. Someone has to know the truth. Someone has to know what happened.
My coven was dying. An illness was sweeping through them, so I did the only thing a witch could: I summoned a Fae. If anyone would have a cure, it would be them.
I should have known better. Summoning the Fae is against coven law, and with good reason. The Fae rule the realms, and they certainly don’t like to be beckoned for favors.
I did get the cure, but it came at a price. There’s always a price for Fae magic - a devious bargain that suits their own cruel agendas. The price? Powerful dark magic that . . . well . . . you'll soon find out.
But, I will tell you this: A war is coming. I can feel it in my bones. The Fae want more power, fates are colliding, rebellions are rising, and . . . Everyone thinks that I can save them all.
So, I'm left with two choices. Will I stand for the innocent against the Fae rulers, or will I continue to hide? The choice should be simple. But it's not.

About the Author
They also have a cat named Geralt (Kitter of Fischer-a), but since the Geralt adopted them and not the other way around, the cat is more of a tenant who occasionally purr-purrs for his rent, if he's not too busy murdering nerf darts.
Together, these misfits live in Orange City, Iowa.
When D. Fischer isn't chasing after her children and barking at them to shut the front door, she spends her time typing like a mad woman while consuming vast amounts of caffeine. Sometimes, if her husband can manage to remind her of the real world outside her office window, they hike!
Known for the darker side of imagination, she enjoys freeing her creativity through worlds that don't exist, no matter how much we wish they did.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book bridges the urban fantasy I am familiar with from this author and true fantasy. And like her earlier series she does it extremely well. Some authors take time to develop their individual voice. D. Fischer's voice shines true from her very first endeavour. Vividly descriptive, lovely prose, great plots and fantastic characters grace every book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWitches, shifters, ghosts, angels, fee – this book has them all, and they’re all connected. Kat makes a deal with Erline that literally changes the world – it causes a shift in the realms that has never been seen before. Everything is changing. For everyone.
I’m always a little hesitant when I read something that switches POV across the chapters, especially when there are FIVE points of view going on. However, one thing that D. Fischer does really well is keep her characters sounding different. Even in the narration, it’s easy to tell which character I’m following. One of my favorite things about this book is that each separate storyline, each individual character, eventually crosses over in some way. Somehow, they are all connected. It was fun to see how all of it worked out, and I’m incredibly excited for the rest of the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseFor $14.99 I expected a lot more. The book is in bold type and there is spacing between each paragraph. It’s a short story. The ending leaves you hanging but in my opinion it’s not worth to buy the next book for $14.99 when it’s only about 100 pages. The other could have put all books together to make a novel but she sold out. Not worth it!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI am not one for gods, goddesses, etc. I couldn't get into this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book...
The story is unpredictable. The characters are vivid and colorful, along with sweet, unaware and narcissistic. The author shows a side to the gods of the realms that makes my stomach dance and turn. It broke my heart and started it up again. It dashed my hopes and gave me kept me wishing and full of expectation.
There was so much more than I expected in this novel. There was no place for the story to become stagnate or still. The characters had their separate stories along with crossing over each other's. And the cliffhanger only left me wanting the rest. I cannot wait for the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLoved this book. Not my usual genre, but I was so captivated by the cover I went for it. The author does an excellent job of keeping the story moving and when it comes to an end it left me wanting more...excellent book can’t wait for the next Installment!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2018Format: PaperbackD. Fischer is a new author for me, but as a reader of fantasy and paranormal, I couldn't pass up this book. Fischer does an amazing job in creating an enticing and well-structured web of characters and realms. From the first chapter, she pulls you in with interesting characters who are relatable and real. What I loved the most about this novel is the way each character and realm relates to one another. Each chapter switches from different point of views, letting a different character narrate their own life and predicament. Any author will tell you that it's pretty difficult to master one character's insight, but to pull it off with multiple, it's truly an accomplishment. The world building and how the different realms intertwine really build a multilayer of interest and backstory. I've always been drawn to the dark and gothic, and Reborn delivers these two elements with a perfectly macabre hand.
The only thing holding me back from giving it a 5-star review, was the big need for another editing round. I've caught several typos, such as its vs. it's, there vs. their, and other grammatical and structural issues, as if originally the author had meant to say one thing, but then ended up being something completely different. Usually, this is a huge issue for me, one that will make me drop the book and not continue. However, it is very clear to me that this isn't the case of an author being a bad writer. It's obvious that Fischer is talented and in well-edited chapters, her writing is off the hook! So I will continue to read this series and can't wait to find out more.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have read all of D. Fischer’s work and so far this has to be my most favorite book. Love the suspense, love the fairies and love the darkness! Can’t wait for book 2 to be released!

5.0 out of 5 stars One to watch!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI seldom get the chance to write a review that is full of hope. Often, I am left feeling deflated or discouraged by the way in which writing is becoming more and more simplified with the passing years. However, I can tell you that this author has all the potential of becoming one of the great fantasy writers of our time. She is merely starting out, and her style is still raw and could use some polishing, but her aptitude for language and the art of storytelling is unmistakable. Seamlessly transitioning between five separate characters is a challenge for any author, and this author has taken to it with undeniable flair and a passion seldom seen today on the mass-produced, overly industrialized market which self-publishing has become. With a great, fast-paced, storyline and easily distinguishable characters, this is the first fantasy novel i have been able to finish in a long time, and that's saying a lot because I'm an author myself.
Well done Miss Fischer! You are certainly one nobody should hesitate to watch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis story is well written and compelling. There are many players in this layered world. Witches, shifters, angels and fee. The fee seem to be all powerful, and even angels fear to tread where they be.
Each character is well thought and well rounded. It's hard to make a choice on who to back.
The bad guy is enigmatic, someone who you don't understand his motives and beyond his cruelty, his endgame is yet to be discovered
I can't wait to read the next book
