    Kelsey's looking for love in exactly the right place, but Parker doesn't know it yet.

    Parker helped Kelsey escape her messed up life & make it big in the music industry, but then he had to leave to help take care of his father. Three years later, his father has passed just as Kelsey is wrapping up a tour, so she comes to see him with the hopes of renewing - and evolving - their relationship.

    Love the premise and the characters. This is an obvious setup for future books in the series, but the other characters all fit into the story pretty naturally.

    There's a bit of redundancy, & I'm not quite sure I bought the lover's final conflict, but I liked Kelsey's development & growth. Parker's, too, though it's lower key. I enjoyed the story & characters enough that I'll be looking forward to the next in the series.

    *Romance level: passionate kisses, main characters have sex but no graphic details are given

    *Language: a handful of uses each of d-mn & h-ll, a couple of sh-t

    *Religion: secular, with casual/recreational attitudes toward sex, several uses of God's Name (Christ) as casual expletives, sadly & unnecessarily, but not as curses, fwiw

    🍪When his father passes away, Kelsey finds out and comes to stay in the South Carolina coastal town to see him. With Parker’s brothers and the town on their side, the pair may just have a chance at happiness.

    📚This is another one of the stories waiting patiently (since 2021) on my Kindle. It’s a short novella, and the first writing of author Monique McDonnell that I have read. Novellas that actually aren’t too short can feel like a great little palate cleanser, and this one hit the mark. A quaint town filled with caring inhabitants, choc chip cookies, a coffee shop and a bar and three handsome but somewhat angsty brothers. There are three novellas in the series and I am off to download the second on KU. May as well find out what older brother Tony and youngest brother Banner have in store for them ⚓️

    He discovered her, kept her safe, and made it possible for her to become a star, and then the dream ended. In one crushing phone call, Parker's life as he knew it, ended. Returning home to take care of his father, all his dreams came tumbling down as he fulfilled his duty to the cantankerous old man who was beloved by a town, but an awful father to his sons. Whilst Parker managed her affairs, Kelsey felt safe knowing that he would protect her and nurture her talent. When the call of his family left her bereft of the only man she felt she could trust, she went through the motions but lost her spark. With the death of his father, Kelsey grabs the opportunity to be with him but gets far more than she would ever have expected. This well written small-town romance pulls at the heartstrings as the three brothers discover that their father is still trying to control their lives from the grave and each of them has to determine what they really need to be happy. I loved both Parker and Kelsey's characters as well as the good people of Marlin Shores who stood by them. Although part of a series, this novel is a standalone and comes to a sweet conclusion, although not everyone is happy. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

    This book can stand alone, but it's a great beginning to a new series set in Marlin Shores, SC about three brothers who inherit their father's marina. Saltwater Song is a perfect title for brother Parker, a music manager for a big label, who discovers Kelsey, an underage country singer, performing in a bar. When he heard about her lowly circumstances, he promised to take care of her. Not only did they become best friends, but he turned her into a superstar, even co-writing songs together. But then his father got ill and Parker made the unselfish choice to leave Kelsey and Nashville behind to take care of his father.

    What happens next in the story, told in dual POVs, is an evolving love between them, but can Kelsey get Parker to realize they need each other and they need to make music together? Everyone in town can see it, but can he or will the marina tie him down without any room for Kelsey?

    This is a sweet, unselfish and touching love story with very high drama between the brothers, the townspeople and our main characters. There's definitely some "zing," but it happens behind closed doors so it's suitable reading for all.

    Come fall in love with Kelsey, Parker, all the fun secondary characters, and the smell and taste of Marlin Shores. I eagerly await brother Banner's story up next!

    Parker and Kelsey have a love crossed musical romance. He was her manager and promised to never to make a pass at her since she was so young when he signed her, but they both have secret crushes on each other. He was forced to give up his career to take care of his miserable father. She was forced to accept a predatory mercenary manager in his place who made her hate her music until she finds out Parker's father has recently passed away and goes to Marlin Shores to see him and see if the feelings are still there. I loved Marlin Shores and the wonderful characters who live there. It was a cute beach front town where people care about and help each other out. Parker's brother are each interesting in their own different way. Like Kelsey they had a horrible father, but his will brought them back to work together. This steamy romance was a nice start to the series.

    This is the first book by this author and I have to say it’s definitely not going to be the last. The story flowed. The characters were beautifully defined. The other characters want you to find out about them.
    It’s a beautiful story and I absolutely loved learning about and getting to know Kelsey and Parker.
    I even signed up to her newsletter and got the free story about Cam :) I advise you do the same.
