Guys, how come you haven’t bought this book yet? It is not just a regular book to color, it is a pure joy! RJ Hampson has a great sense of humor so if you are moody just start coloring any picture from the ‘Serendipity’ and your anxiety, sadness or boredom will disappear in a couple of minutes. There are two sets of illustrations in the book. The second part of the it contains duplicates with black backgrounds (so you have a chance to recreate your artwork if you are not satisfied with the result of your first try). As for a paper: yes, it is a regular Amazon paper, but all pictures are single sided, so you don’t need to be worried about bleeding through (just don’t forget to put a blank sheet underneath your working page if you color with alcohol markers or gel pens). This type of paper works great with pencils and dry pastels but I wouldn’t recommend to color it with oil pastels or watercolors. I mean, you can try that but you need to be a quite experienced colorist to get a result that will satisfy you. So, no hesitation, go get the ‘Serendipity’. You will love it, I swear!

I share all my RJ Hampson books with my 94 year old friend with severe dementia. She loves loves loves RJ Hampson as much as I do. They are just her speed. She loves to read the brief descriptions (not too many words to overwhelm her) and look at all the pretty pictures.

For the rj Hampson fans that follow his books, he has the same characters you have come to love like Mr fogherty but tons of new people and animals and things to discover. He has the same awesome sense of humor. There are ideas he reimagines in his books that are always a joy to see. It really is so nice following his books and his imagination on the journeys he takes us on! Serendipity does not disappoint.

The paper is quality Amazon paper, which means it's on the absorbent side and quite smooth, but it takes alcohol and water based markers quite well thanks to the images being single sided. You just need a blotter in between so as not to ruin the next pages.
My two finished pages were made with a mix of alcohol and water-based markers with pencils for shading on top.
