Overview

Ages 8-11 Chapter Book Series Reluctant Readers Short Attention Spans Courage

Grandpa's glowing book, talking with characters, and a plunge into the pages. This funny, action-filled series is perfect for adventure loving fans of the Magic Treehouse.

My name is Riles, and I'm a hero. I don't have super speed, x-ray vision, or super strength. In fact, I'm a pretty normal fifth grader in every way except one - I'm a Story Keeper.Never heard of Story Keeping? No worries. I hadn't either. Then, grandpa opened that first magical book and the pages glowed. Awesome, right? Sure, until I had to help a space dude recover his memory and battle intergalactic pirates. Those guys have sweet blasters, but they're super grumpy. Don't worry, I'll tell you all about it right here in this book.

Note to ParentsWelcome to Book 1! The Story Keeping series follows Riles and his siblings through adventures into grandpa's glowing books - helping heroes, and learning what it takes to be heroic in their own right. This series keeps it clean - no language, gratuitous violence, or romance - just kids on adventure, learning to face fears, be brave, and care for one another. Like The Neverending Story, it's been known to "pull in" the most reluctant readers...literally.Fans of this family-friendly, humorous series say:

"My son is in love, so happy to find a quality adventure book that keeps him reading."

"An immersive adventure that gave my daughter and I a magical experience."

"The Story Keeping Series is Magic Treehouse meets The Diary of a 6th Grade Ninja."

"Somewhere between The Boxcar Children and Harry Potter, this series follows a sibling set in and out of books, saving happy endings. A delightful read for middle grade boys and girls."

About the Author

Aaron has been telling stories as long as he can remember.

"My parents wove incredible tales at bedtime and around campfires. I think I caught my mother's passion for writing pretty early. Now, I find myself weaving similar stories for my wife, and our three kids."

The Story Keeping Series really captures that bedtime story excitement - the kids tuck into their bunks to hear grandpa read, and the story comes to life as they send clues to the hero and help save a happy ending. The twists and turns will, as grandpa says, "Put goose bumps on your arms and tickle the hair in your ears."

"It's a joy to finally put these stories on paper."

Like many of us, Aaron identifies a few standout teachers who taught him to write and tricked him into believing he could do anything - Mrs. Orona (4th), Mrs. Avery (11th), and Dr. Joliff (undergrad).

In 2010, Aaron and his wife headed to Scotland (with a few bags and two kids) to start a PhD.

"We traded our cookie cutter suburban life for 500sqft of government housing in the heart of the city.

We learned a lot about living simply and paying attention to what we value. The move changed us forever - a story of struggle, isolation, hope, adventure, and ultimately transformation.

Now, no matter what a particular day holds, I want to be a little more heroic when the sun sets."
