- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2013I love this book. It is a delightful read, being so informative with excellent hints for using and growing the most popular herbs. The author writes in such a pleasant manner, you feel you have a friend in the room with you.
I found So Easy Herbal to be a pleasant change from many other books I've read in the past which delve a little too deeply into the subject of herbs, leaving one feeling like they are reading Latin. This book is definitely not one of those.
The illustrations and photos are a delight and I think this book would make a wonderful gift for anyone interested in growing or using herbs.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2013This is a very informative, yet interesting read. I am looking forward to planting my herbs and finding out if it is as easy as she says it is.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2013Really enjoyed this sweet book. So many different areas are covered that most readers are sure to find something of interest. I especially liked the air freshener idea with vodka and the creative bath ideas like the tub teas that author Karon Grieve shares.
While this isn't a cookbook, as Karon mentions, she still found plenty of opportunities to include various quick recipes to incorporate your newly grown herbs. She includes detailed recipes for special tea time with a sweet story woven in, as is the style throughout this book. Love where Karon says "My mum always said I was a Tea Jenny".
I look forward to growing, drying and using my new herbs this summer and trying a few of the "Cool Drinks" recipes when the weather gets hot.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2013It has basic information and it has basic images. It might just be my version of the Kindle that made it difficult to see the images and be able to read the information. As a basic guide this is fine, but I already know that you would need to find another book that perhaps goes into greater detail in certain areas. I would definitely recommend this book, if anything as a starter.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2013This sweet little book is the right mix of enthusiasm, passion and information. The reader is introduced to a simple variety of herbs and a plethora of ways to use them inside and outside of the kitchen. The information isn't new, but it is presented in a quaint package that is so sweet to unwrap. I can't wait for my newly purchased herbs to grow large enough to use. On the kindle a few of the graphic pages are very small and you are unable easily to increase the size making the font hard to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2013This is a sweet, practical book. A very fast "read," I feel like I can hear the passion in the author's voice as she speaks about herbs.
The photography and graphics are breathtaking. The recipes look simple yet creative; I can't wait to try her air freshener made with vodka!
If you are interested in simple ways to be more healthy or need to get back to basics--even if you were never there before--this book would be a terrific jumping-off point!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2013If you are a total newbie to the world of herbs, this book will provide a great introduction. All the herbs listed are easy to grow, and the recipes provided are useful, and simple.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2013if you are into herbs and especially if you are new to them as I am, you will learn a lot from this book. I was pleasantly surprised at how many things you can do with them like making butters, infused oils, and teas. I went through the book quickly when I realized it was a book I would refer back to on a regular basis as I try the many ways to use the herbs.
