Breakfast At Spindrift Cottage (Cockleshell Bay Book 5) Kindle Edition
It’s time for him to move on. She’s suffered too. Can they find healing together?
Lucy Winters has found her calling in Cockleshell Bay. Arriving several years earlier as a young widow, she’s built up a successful cafe in the heart of the small town with a catering business on the side.
When her catering chef suddenly falls ill, Lucy steps in to cater for a group of businessmen staying at Spindrift Cottage. Things don’t go to plan, and guest Nick Martin steps in to save her from disaster. The handsome, enigmatic motivational speaker is a distraction she doesn’t need, and Lucy tries to stay focused on her task, but she can’t help wondering about Nick. Who is he? What’s his story? Does it have anything to do with the sorrow she sees in his eyes?
Nick has reasons of his own for his visit to Spindrift Cottage. A letter in the post sends him on a quest for healing. Will he see that what he seeks is right in front of him? Will he be able to let go of the past and embrace his future?

About the author

Kaitlynn Clarkson enjoys writing clean, faith-friendly romance stories. She writes in contemporary and historical genres because she can’t decide which one she likes best. She’s dreamed of writing ever since she was a little girl when she would get into trouble for reading instead of doing her chores.
These days, Kaitlynn lives on a farm with her husband, two teenagers, and a herd of cows. She loves to play the piano and trombone in her spare time and is certain there will never be enough time to read all the books she wants to.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2022I so enjoy Kaitlynn’s books, the words just flow off the pages! This book is back at Spindrift Cottage again with Miranda and Tony. Nick is facing his third anniversary without the love of his life, Charlotte when he’s given a letter from Charlotte through her best friend. Charlotte wants Nick to spend their anniversary at Spindrift Cottage which is where they spent their vacations. So God arranges for Nick’s venue to fall through and it’s moved to Spindrift Cottage where he is one of the speakers. Lucy owns the local cafe’ and does catering on the side. Right before the conference at Spindrift Cottage, her chef falls ill, so Lucy has to step in. It’s been 5 years since her husband died and as Lucy sees her friends marry, she realizes she’s maybe finally ready to move on. Nick helps Lucy out of a potential disaster when instead of steaks in a box it’s cauliflower. Lucy and Nick become fast friends and Lucy helps Nick deal with his grief of loosing his wife. Will they find a way to become more?.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2022I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book from Booksprout. Every single story in this series is a sheer joy to read. I wish I had one every single day, you will always look forward to the next one because the characters are so real and you are at the beach for each and every one of them. Lucy and Nick have both had tragedy in their lives. When Nick comes to Spindrift, it is for a business conference and he is a speaker. Lucy ends up being the person who provides the food for the conference but when Nick sees her he just wants to know her more and he and Lucy become friends but could it be more, are they meant to be together????
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2022I love this series!. A B&B along the ocean, a place to come and take a respite from problems in your life. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and makes you feel a part of the family.
The characters in this story were caring, real, and empathetic to helping Nick to recover from his grief.
I think my favorite characters are Miranda, the owner and the grandmotherly influence, and Lucy. Both have been affected by grief and so understand what Nick is going thru in order for him to find new love.
I look forward to reading more stories at Cockleshell Bay by Kaitlynn Clarkson. I enjoy her writing style and the characters she writes about. And I love that each story is a stand alone book.
I received an ARC of this book from BookSprout and this is my honest opinion.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2022Breakfast at Spindrift Cottage is a charming tale of two people who lost their spouses and are working their way through the grief process.
Lucy is further ahead in the process than Nick. Nick is a successful motivational speaker from Seattle. He just received the final letter from his wife (her friend had been sending the letters to Nick after his wife's death, per his wife's request). Nick had to find a new venue for his conference and thought of Spindrift Cottage, a place where he and his wife used to spend their vacations.
Lucy owns a cafe and catering business near Spindrift. She has to cater the meals for Nick's conference herself as her catering cook became ill at the last minute. Lucy and Nick meet at the Cottage when Nick shows up early for breakfast. They started talking and became friends. Then......
Something happened that caused Nick to take a step back in his grieving process. It takes a little time, but Nick and Lucy come together again and are looking forward to a future together.
I enjoyed this story from Kaitlynn Clarkson. This is the first book from her that I have read, and it won't be the last. I loved the way she had Lucy guide Nick through the grieving process.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2022Lucy has lost the love of her life. Nick too has lost the love of his life. Are they ready to move on and work toward their future together? I was thinking as I read this story about how I would feel if I lost the love of my life? He is the one I have spent 27 mostly wonderful years with. I always hope that if I lost him that I would want to die too. However that's just not realistic. I know this because a friend of mine lost her husband suddenly and she hoped the same thing. I absolutely love the way Kaitlynn dealt with this very delicate situation. I very highly recommend this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2022This was a beautiful, emotional, inspirational story about letting go, moving on, and second chances. The characters grabbed my heart, made me smile, and even brought tears to my eyes. The letter Charlotte wrote to Nick for their third wedding anniversary really touched my heart. I liked everything about this book, the characters of Nick and Lucy, and their friendship. I especially liked the significance of the bubble wand. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2022Nick receives a letter from his deceased wife, Charlotte, to move on with his life and she has a request. She wants him to revisit Spindrift Cottage where they vacationed and celebrated their last anniversary. Things work out for him to make this a working vacation, since the venue for the scheduled conference fell through. Lucy gets the catering gig for the conference, but when her catering chef gets sick, she has to step in to cover it. Nick and Lucy meet and he starts helping her in the kitchen. They spend some time together and become friends. Lucy lost her husband, so she helps Nick deal with his grief. Will they become more than friends or is Nick just not ready? Grab your copy and see what happens. I bet you’ll want to visit Spindrift Cottage yourself.
