Stark Reminders: A brilliantly fast-paced detective novel (An Adam Stark Novel Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 38 ratings

Frank Massey disappeared seven years ago and, finally, his family can try to lay his ghost to rest by completing the death in absentia process. They might have missed him, but Stark certainly hasn’t.
Meanwhile, Massey’s son, Graham, has reluctantly agreed to help his boss, Charlie Tanner, appease a couple of gangsters by intimidating some shopkeepers. However, it all goes horribly wrong when Graham asks an old friend to help out, and he takes things too far.
Stark starts to investigate crimes that seem to have racially-motivated overtones but, when the involvement of the Malik brothers is revealed, the case is taken out of his hands. And the new senior investigating officer is someone he knows very well.
Revenge will be carried out, violence will be perpetrated, and shocking secrets will be revealed.
Remember, what’s in the past doesn’t always stay there.

Peter is a Scottish person who's older than he thinks he is. He's been married for a long time and has one daughter. When finances and time permit, he travels the world in search of birds and other wildlife and is a committed conservationist. As a self-taught bassist, saying he's a musician may be stretching it, but he has a go now and again.

Literary influences include Christopher Brookmyre, Stephen King and Irvine Welsh, so expect bad language, violence, black humour and significantly fewer adverbs than most...oh...

So far, he has seven novels published.

An utterly gripping crime thriller, featuring the very likeable DI Adam Stark and his colleagues. Racist graffiti, then arson, finally escalating to murder keep all the detectives busy. Then a body, bricks in pockets, is discovered in the pond during an unexpected drought. A highly entertaining read.

Book 4 in the Adam Stark series and another great read, more twists and turns than the road to the highlands. Watch out for a real twist at the end....well done Peter.

Fast paced indeed - couldn't put it down!
Believable and engaging from the start.
I too can imagine this as a 3 part tv show - roll on the next installment!

Another great novel by Peter Carroll, his writing goes from strength to strength with each new story. Peter has assuredly discovered the formula with the outcome that is "unputdownable".
