Imagine the sun-drenched landscapes of The Gambia, where the fate of not just a nation but the entire world is hanging by a thread. Meet Lloyd Olsen, a high-flying executive of NewCrop, thrown into a world where ambition collides with morality. The stakes are sky-high – power, a CEO position dangling like forbidden fruit, and a revolutionary strain of rice, GRX, promising to eradicate famine in West Africa.
But every promise comes at a cost. Little does Olsen know, the supposed beacon of hope, the "Holy Grail of Biotechnology," conceals a chilling secret – a seed with a sinister moniker, the Suicide Seed. This botanical marvel could be the salvation of millions, yet its deadly nature threatens to plunge nations into darkness, putting West Africa's agricultural fate in the clutches of NewCrop.
As Olsen digs deeper, the plot thickens, unveiling a spine-chilling conspiracy that could shatter not just his dreams but the fate of West Africa and the world. A non-seeding nightmare crop takes center stage, a pawn in the hands of a corrupt government official and a relentless enforcer. Lives hang in the balance, and the body count rises as Olsen faces an impossible choice – succumb to the conspiracy or forsake his dreams to confront the impending catastrophe.
Will Olsen's journey be a tragic plunge into the depths of corporate malevolence, or will he emerge as a defiant symbol, challenging the shadows that threaten to engulf us all?
Brace yourself for Suicide Seeds – a story of morality, power, and an unwavering battle for what's right.

From the Author
West Africa has seen a drop in its annual rainfall over the last twenty years of thirty per cent. Clearly, that presents an agricultural dilemma. It is clear to see when countries whose main crops are rice, peanuts and bananas are compelled to begin importing these items to satisfy local demands. Previously that wasn't a problem.
What disturbed not only me, but activists around the globe, was what certain biotech companies were up to, as they began to promote their drought resistant and health giving varieties of seeds as the elixir of the human race. To further these ends, massive amounts of corporate corruption took root and flourished and contravened all conventions and were downright criminal. Huge international court cases followed and companies named and shamed.
Reports also began to leak out that GM crops were being developed so as to cause all other natural seeds to wither and die before they themselves expired... hence the title of the book. Farmers, to survive, would have no alternative but to purchase seeds from the biotech companies, year in and year out, forever.
While in Africa, I remember watching two emaciated children getting into a terrible brawl over finding and trying to eat a small orange found in a gutter. That struck home with some force.
I developed a small life and a love of the place. Such beautiful people... such terrible corruption, some of which I witnessed and others I was told of.
Suicide Seeds, is a work of fiction but is NOT too far away from what happened. Some characters are totally fictitious, others not, there are those who are dear to my heart. In some way they appear in this story. The dogs are for real and so is Beach Dog. Bless him.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2019This was a fast paced story, well written and very interesting. Takes place mostly in Gambia, West Africa.
Lloyd Olsen is an Englishman and works for NewCrop. He's sent to Gambia to meet with certain people and convince them to approve NewCrop's new genetically modified crop development program.
This is also a story of a man so messed up, that murdering people, animals, anything, gives him pleasure. Be warned that some is graphic and disturbing.
Once in Gambia, Lloyd quickly realizes that he's been told lies, and murders begin. Lloyd also appears to have been something of a Ninja sometime early in this life, and that helps keep him alive when others are being murdered.
Romance happens, and it's rather sweet. So is Lloyd's attraction to a feral beach dog. He feeds him and names him Beachy. Beachy in turn loves Lloyd. The man feeds him and doesn't try to hurt him.
Meanwhile, Lloyd tries to understand who he can trust. Hard to do when you can't come out and ask.
I say no more because I'd ruin how Lloyd finds out the truth. And then how he makes sure the right action is carried out. This all the while the madman is trying to kill him.
Wonderful book and good information about GMO seeds. The good and the bad.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2017Lloyd Olson ventures from the UK to the Gambia to oversee a major project for his GMO-selling employer. He finds a lot more danger (and love) than he expected. Fry creates a sympathetic protagonist and villains you love to hate. He does a good job of presenting GMO crops fairly, acknowledging the positive aspects and not shying away from the negative.
This suspense novel turns the disturbing sexual violence level up to eleven in places, just so you're aware. That isn't to my personal taste, but I understand that it is often part of the genre, and it certainly effectively conveys the evil of the villains and the fear they engender. The writing style is old school classic thriller. No modern snarky dialogue here. If you have enjoyed Fry’s other work, you will likely enjoy this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2018First, I found some places in Ken Fry's book difficult to get past because of the over-the-top violence and language. That being said, I found the book fast-paced, suspenseful, an edge-of-your-seat thriller that leaves you thinking about it days after you've read it.
Ken fleshes out his characters fully. His writing style draws you immediately into the scene and emotionally connects you. You feel the turmoil and anger of his antagonist, Lloyd Olsen, and you fall in love with Beachdog, a very intricate part of the storyline.
The content of the story educates the reader on what could be the ultimate danger in experimenting with GMO crops, in this case, Africa. I have given Suicide Seeds by Ken Fry five stars in spite of my in deference to the extensive violence.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2016Slow start to the novel but once it got going, it was entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is never a chance to get bored with this fast-paced and action packed novel
Suicide Seeds is set in Gambia, West Africa where NewCrop is planning to expand its genetically modified (GM) crop development program. In a surrounding that is rife with bribery and corruption the author’s extensive knowledge of Gambia is invaluable in bringing the characters and environment to life. There is never a chance to get bored with this fast-paced and action packed novel. A word of caution though, there are some scenes of stark violence but what can you expect when seedy and greedy individuals face the threat of public exposure. The book raises pertinent questions about the ethics of GM crop farming which has increased rapidly over the years in many developing countries.
I enjoyed reading the book very much and I feel that it has all the makings of a bestseller. I cannot wait to read more of Ken Fry's writings!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2019After a few introductions to the main characters, and to the topic of seeds used for crop growth in Africa, this book begins to move and doesn't stop until the end. It is well written. There are no distractions to interfere with the read. The story line has current value and import, and the characters are well drawn, could be anyone living on your street in any town U.S.A. The characters have flesh and bones, have lives and missions to accomplish. They have doubts, fears, they love, they live and die. Well done Mr. Fry. A very good read indeed.

With such interesting characters, I hope to see more works involving them soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2019On the cover are the words Ambition, Corruption, and Murder. Words overused in promoting thrillers, but in this case, they reverberate in the mind as one reads. I found it to be a timely, engrossing story that is expertly written to keep the reader guessing to the conclusion — even if one thinks they know how it will end.
Thank you for a good read Ken.

5.0 out of 5 stars Non stop action on every page.
This is one of the best books I've ever read! .. I had never heard of suicide seeds, GMO I thought I knew something about, how wrong I was. This is a well written informative book, filled with great characters, I learned a few disturbing things, that gave me plenty to think about..more books like this please.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant concept interweaves with a touching love story
What surprised me about this book was the love story. I found it quite touching and the main character relatable. Lloyd's struggle to save his loved ones had me turning the pages and I just couldn't put it down. It's an intriguing novel with a thought provoking idea. There's a genetically modified seed that can stop the famine in West Africa, however, there's a catch and it's not what it seems. Lloyd Olsen must make some tough decisions and ultimately sacrifice all he thought he wanted to save the people he loves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tension builds from multiple angles
This book has deep down grunt that gives the storyline a rich and meaningful foundation. Corporate greed. The making of a psychopathic killer. Corruption. Murder. Cruelty. Love and loyalty. An epic idea in the suicide seed technology.... Everything builds inch by inch. Slowly and relentlessly. Like multiple angles to the same force that explodes in the final chapters.... An intriguing setting in 3rd world Africa. Great characters, both the good guys and the bad. And a wonderful dog hero that is worth the read on his own.... But above all, there's a latent power here that I also noticed in a previous read of this author. Fry writes real, gritty stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very important topic covered in a very well written thriller
It was the title that caught me. I am not a fan of GM crops and I think non-seeding varieties exploit the poorest people in the world. Terminator seeds are something else and this fast paced and violent thriller in centred around a plot to sow them in Africa, hence suicide seeds. Ken Fry does a superb job in this story and I only dropped one star on account of the trigger violence against women and animals. To go the whole hog to five would be to disregard some scenes I found very worrying. Yes, the assassin is obviously a dangerous and sick sadist but the murder and sexual abuse of one female character upset me a little. If it disturbs someone who is not generally speaking a sensitive reader it will trigger someone who is. Nevertheless there will be people who expect and enjoy graphic scenes so I hope Mr Fry does not mind this one criticism because it is well intentioned and I have read and enjoyed other books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read
A very exciting and readable book. I would definitely recommend it to friends. It has everything - corruption and ruthlessness within large companies, greed and violence. Another good book by author Ken Fry.
