About the author

T.J. lives in Perth, Western Australia, with his long-suffering life partner.
Their children bailed out years ago, but grandchildren can sometimes be persuaded to visit.
His book production is now into double figures, so he’s hoping to crack the secret soon.
T.J. writes buddy detective, romance and cozy mysteries and has also dabbled occasionally military action adventure adventures.
When he’s not slaving at the keyboard, you’ll find him at the beach, on the road to a beach or planning a trip to somewhere nice, with a beach.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2021I loved Tania and Ben's story, which felt fresh and real. Ben is a perfect, geeky cinnamon-roll hero, and Tania's struggles will be relatable to many. Kudos to TJ for avoiding making her son gag-inducing "cute" and giving her moments of maternal exasperation. The mystery was woven in well, and the romance felt earned. Loved the Australian details, and it was fun to see Stella, Sean, Tim, and Val again, yet they didn't disrupt this story, which can be read alone just fine. Read it in one sitting. Sorry to see the series end but can't wait to see what's next!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2021Tania is a single mother sending her son off to kindergarten and with little skills as she quite school to have her son Jonno, she sets out job hunting. Ben is a pom recently located to Australia for a new job as a reporter. He meets Tania at and it is love at first sight for him. Ray is father to Jonno and took off and has had no interaction with him since birth. He comes looking for her at her new job to extort money from her to stay out of her life. She kicks him out. The next morning, Jonno finds Ray dead on the front lawn of Tania's house. Police suspect Tania and her father confesses to the murder. And so the investigation by Tania and Ben with help from their friends start.
There is a long list of suspect and the author has done a great job of convincing reasons why each suspect could have been the killer and then they aren't. Tania and Ben keep pulling together clues to move to the next suspect. You would think they would be tripping over the police but as Tania's Dad confessed to the murder, they aren't doing their own investigation. Tania know her Dad didn't kill Ray so she keeps moving forward to find the real killer. Ben is right by her side with his own ideas and help. As a reporter, he can get them into meetings some of the suspects under guise of interviews for his paper.
It was a fun read, entertaining, educational regarding horse racing and the various people who are drawn to that sport.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great setting for a cosy murder mystery
Although this book could easily be read as a stand-alone, I loved the familiarity of the characters, having gotten to know them throughout books 1 & 2.
Tania, previously more of a cameo character in the series, comes into her own as a single mum tackling mean girls, her son’s dead-beat dad, and sexual discrimination - all while solving a murder mystery, getting back into the workforce, and falling in love with a dishy new character, Ben.
This story had a lovely pace and kept me engaged and entertained right to the end.
The relationships between various characters are realistic, and it’s an authentically drawn setting of Western Australia’s winery & surf region.
(And I learnt a thing or two about horse racing along the way.)
In a fitting tribute to end the series, all the main characters are reunited at the very end - Stella & Sean return from New York, Val & Tim make it down from the city, Dipper is sprung from jail - and there’s an exciting announcement made in the frothy surf of one of Australia’s favourite beaches.
A very enjoyable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Engaging Story
Once her five-year-old son begins school, single-mom Tania sets out to reinvent herself with a job resume in hand. All dressed up, she’s had her nails done, too. Without a high-school education, she discovers the job market is daunting at best. But that’s the least of her problems. She fights mean girls from her past, sex discrimination, and a deadbeat ex-boyfriend who has yet to meet their son. Although her friends and family step in to help, she doesn’t need anyone to fight her battles—or does she? Even her new friend, Ben, takes up arms on her behalf, an ugly shiner to prove it. There is a lot of tension in author T. J. Beach’s Meet Me Where The Surf Breaks, the third in her “Meet Me” series, with murder, mystery, romance, and more. It keeps the reader engaged with the story until the end. As I’ve never been to Australia, I especially enjoyed walking around there for a while, if only through the pages of this book. Well done.
