Symbios Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

3.8 out of 5 stars 34 ratings

Bestselling author J.A. Konrath brings us a gruesome story of the depths a person will go to in order to survive.

When his deep space mission goes awry, Lieutenant Jehrico Stiles crash-lands on an unknown planet. With breathable air, drinkable water, and a friendly native species, the planet seems almost utopian. The only trouble is, Stiles is starving. The planet’s vegetation is toxic, and there’s nothing else to eat. As his hunger grows and his body weakens, his definition of edible starts to change. He discovers that sometimes survival means doing things you would rather not—and eating things that would rather not be eaten.

A good read, but nothing that was half as thrilling as his other works . For a short it was entertaining.

Very cleverly written. As a kid I often had that conversation with my friends "what would you do if your were on a ship and is sank leaving you alone on a desert island?" and the flood of questions would follow. Would you eat a monkey? or a raw fish or even a washed up body! Well here's a modern twist on this theme. It becomes obvious where the story is going but you don't want to admit it to yourself. Then it goes there. Then is goes beyond "there". As "obvious" as it may appear it's well, well worth the read, it draws you in and then when it's over you wish it was a full blown novel, but then, are quite happy that it's not....

Not a bad Syfy. Way too much eating for my taste. But it was supposed to be a horror/syfy story right? Well enjoy.

This story was well written and continuously interesting. I read through the whole thing in one sitting. It moved quickly and only got more and more interesting as it plowed thorough.

This book left me wanting to read more.

Full of suspense and gore..... just like you'd expect from J A Konrath. It moved quickly and definitely kept me engrossed. Highly recommend if you're into horror and/or sci-fi.

I’m a slow reader and still finished this in about 15 minutes. Really good story with a lot to think about.

Twisted science fiction that makes me want to read more by the author. I'll definitely be checking out his other work.

Not for the squeamish, it poses an interesting dilemma of survival - just how far are you prepared to go to stay alive?

Although this promotes itself as a short story and is well written, I found it a little too short for the price, feeling slightly short changed by the somewhat abrupt ending.

As long as you are not sqeamish, this is a good read.
Unusual format that works in this context.
I will try another of the author's books.
What would you do given the same circumstances?
