Kennedy

Hello, my name is Kennedy, and I’m an addict.

Pills, booze—you name it, I tried it. I wasn’t exactly particular about it. Now, I’m two years sober, in a new country, and looking for a fresh start.

But my noisy, upstairs neighbor is testing the limits of my sobriety. He’s either watching an adult film marathon, harboring a hooker, or performing an exorcism in his flat.

Regardless, I don’t need beer goggles to see that Silas Graves is the finest bloke I’ve ever laid eyes on.

Silas

Hello, my name is Silas, and I’m going blind.

As a struggling actor, I’ve taken a lot of crummy roles. But this is one role I’m not ready to fill.

So, nightly I swipe right or left, because in my bedroom, I never feel blind. The lights are out, and it’s a level playing field. And oh, how I love pretending to be fully sighted.

Honestly, I deserve an Emmy.

But truth be told, all of this has left me feeling nothing but empty.

Maybe it’s time to stop hiding and chase after what I want.

And what I want is the girl downstairs.

Kennedy & Silas! Whew!

Kennedy & Silas! Whew!
TAKE ME DOWN is the first book of Avery Kingston's that I've read—and I LOVED IT! Kennedy & Silas are fantastic lead characters. Their transition from essentially being enemies to becoming the hottest lovers ever and then falling in love with each other was something else! British Kennedy and almost blind Silas' story is incredibly unique, and my hat's off to Avery for thoroughly doing her homework on British terminology and also blindness. Five-stars for TAKE ME DOWN.

I absolutely loved this book. I fell for Silas and everyone else. The characters were phenomenal and I couldn’t put this book down! There was so much raw emotion I felt going through this book. It felt like I was on this rollercoaster of emotions and I wanted to get off but I didn’t want to at the same time. The dynamic between the lead characters was amazing. Having a front row seat to their relationship was incredible and I was sad when the book ended. It was such an amazing story and it caused me to laugh and cry and feel feelings I wanted to ignore. I cannot stress enough how good this book was. I know down the line I will read it again. There is no way I want to be done with these characters!

These two are complex and broken there lives very different but chance and circumstances have brought them together.

Silas looks like the proverbial bad boy but hes really terrified of loosing it all as a shock jock and the one person whom he should have been able to count on bailed on him when things got real he's dealing with it all wrong two many women and pot wont give him back his sight but there his crutch until the women he can't see but craves won't let him close Kennedy his downstairs neighbor she has plenty to say about his nighttime activities.

Kennedy a cellist and recovering addict has plenty of reason to stay away from her bad boy upstairs neighbor least of his crimes to date keeping her up with his nighttime callers and his need for weed she won't go down that painful road again this is her new start away from her home in England and all those memories sometimes family dosen't give you what you need and sometimes things don't help once secrets come to light but this is her new start and know man know matter how gorgeous is worth her sobriety. Or so she thinks maybe there just perfectly flawed for each other and sometimes people aren't as they first appear.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.

I knew I was going to love Take Me Down the minute I opened the book and there was a quote from The Outsiders, which is my favorite book of all time. There are references to the love of The Outsiders between the two main characters, Silas and Kennedy, throughout the entire book, and I loved every single one. Silas is a radio dj living with a degenerative eye disease that is causing him to go blind. Kennedy is new to the US, living sober, teaching cello, and hearing absolutely everything that happens in Silas’ apartment the floor above hers. Their funny and saucy banter, Kennedy’s British harshness, and of course, all of The Outsiders' references has made Take Me Down one of my absolute favorite reads.

And now, Avery has had Take Me Down produced in audio, and it is absolutely worth the listen! The whole story just hits even more. Sean Masters and Emily Mount did a fabulous job voicing Silas and Kennedy and truly makes you feel Silas’ struggle with losing his vision, plus Kennedy’s annoyance with her upstairs neighbor and her devastation over the loss of her brother. You FEEL every moment of them falling in love. Also, Sean's growl... hello...

Ms. Kingston has written a beautiful story that is unique and compelling. Kennedy and Silas are both strong, compelling characters with realistic nuances that speak to the heart. Their unconventional bond pairs Silas, struggling to accept his encroaching blindness, and Kennedy, who must forgive herself for prior blunders and bad decisions. At first their interactions are humorous and entertaining but then quickly morph into heartfelt and tender. I laughed, I cried, and I was impacted by their journeys. A cast of quirky and entertaining secondary characters lends to the honesty and depth of the story. I was not expecting the twists at the end--what an accomplishment to catch the reader off guard in such a heartwarming fashion. This book is clearly one of the very best I've ever read. Ms. Kingston is a talented and inspired author. I'd give this more than five stars if it were permitted.

This is my first book by Avery and it blew me away! It was recommended on my readers group as underrated and I can see why. I can't believe this doesn't have thousands of reviews.

It's a beautiful story of mistakes and second chances and redemption. Kennedy is hurt and alone with no family, trying to stay sober. Silas is an actor whose blindness doesn't allow him to have the career he wants.
This book has it all- snark, tears, struggles, personal demons, fantastic music, non-cliche dialogues and lots of steam!!
I also loved that author added in details about cello music, radio broadcasting, blind persons tools- it definitely adds depth to a story. At least for me.

Once I got into the story i couldn't put it down. It was different, unique in a great way. A great plot with several twists that you don't see coming.

Love, love, love this book! If you like cute/funny/sexy banter, this one’s for you. 😁 Silas and Kennedy have the best chemistry and it’s so fun seeing their relationship evolve. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, there’s plenty of angst to go around too. (Which is great! I love a good mix, and Take Me Down has the perfect balance.) Each of the main characters struggles with some pretty deep emotional traumas… Add to that that one is losing his eyesight and the other is a newly recovering addict, and it makes for all kinds of reading goodness. 🙂

If that’s not good enough, I have two images to leave you with, which I think more than speak for themselves: A beautiful naked woman playing the cello, and a hot tatted guy standing in an elevator snuggling his rescued kitten. I mean, come on. 😏
