Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, two kids and a dog. She often procrastinates by listening to music of all genres and trying to get ‘just one more paragraph’ written on whichever WIP is open; she is also a serious doodler and chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love ever since she could spell, and publishing is the final culmination of her hard work and ambition.

Her publishing career began with two novellas, and she currently has multiple projects under way, in the hopes that her portfolio of what have been described as “everyday love stories for everyday people” will continue to grow. Always having something on the go can often lead to block which eventually gets dissolved by good music and an even better book.

Her main reason for writing is to not only give her readers enjoyment, but also to create a story and characters that stay with readers long after the book is finished, and possibly make someone stop and think “what if … ”

Right off the bat, the fact that this is a rockstar romance pretty much sucked me in. Add to that, the rocker is a hot Texan and you've completely won me over. I loved this book - the characters were well developed and I felt like I was right there with them all - at the venues, shopping, in the airport and - *blushes* in the bedroom.
Gage Weston is off the charts hot and lovely Charlotte, the pretty lady from across the pond captures his heart. Age difference? No worries. Children from a previous relationship? Again, no worries. Gage is the perfect Texas gentleman.
I will say, there were a couple of times where I thought I was going to have to open a can of Whoop Ass on him though (I'm a Texan, so bear with me on the slang)
All in all it was a great read and an even better love story. I will tell you that #TheBootsStayOn.
    Rock on MB Feeney!

For months, I've been longing to get my hands on It Started in Texas. As a native Texan, and a longtime fan of Ms. Feeney's writing, I couldn't wait to dive into this amazing book. I wasn't disappointed.

Without giving away too much of the plot, the story follows Charlotte and Gage, their relationship, and the obstacles they face. It's every fan girls dream to meet her rockstar crush, but most know it will never happen, muchless that they'd want more than just friendship. Ms. Feeney does an amazing job with this storyline, keeping it real, and showing how conflicted Charlottte was with the decisions she was making. I'll be the first to admit that therer were a time or two that I didn't much like Charlotte, or the way she disregarded those around her, but overall, I thought she was realistic.

The only flaw I saw in the book was the ending. It seemed very rushed, very abrupt, but that leaves me hoping for more. Ihighlyrecommend this book to anyone looking for a great read.

I've always had a soft spot for stories about singers, so when Charlotte takes the trip of a lifetime to see her favourite band, I knew I was going to enjoy this read.

Gage is not only the idol whose music Charlotte has listened to over the years, but a man who loves with his whole heart, and is loyal and genuine. And once he sets his heart on something (or rather a certain someone), there’s no stopping him.

Charlotte, the down-to-earth woman with a love of music who despite being a big fan of Gage's, doesn't become something she isn't at any point, and that's what makes her so appealing.

This story was a treat to read, Gage and Charlotte flawed and believable, with a strong (and lovable and quirky) set of support characters. (I would love have friends like these around, let me tell you).

This book is the perfect treat for anyone who's ever had a crush on a celebrity and secretly wished that said crush would acknowledge their existence.
This story had me hooked in minutes. Playing on the adrenaline and anticipation only a fangirl can truly understand, It Started in Texas was easy to emotionally connect with.
It's wish fulfillment and real life blended seamlessly. The perfect balance of fantasy and reality. I laughed out loud and genuinely enjoyed the main character's journey.

I gave this book 4 stars.

This was my first book by MB Feeney. I'm not going to lie - as I was a bit uncomfortable by the fact that the heroine in this book was married with kids. It was a tad obvious how it was going to play out with Gage and Charlotte and I wasn't sure how I would handle reading about an affair... BUT let me tell you MB did an amazing job of making you understand that this was NOT an affair - so if your think you need to stop after the first chapter or two - KEEP READING!

I loved how well written this book was. I am VERY southern and she did a good job of mixing the Southern-American talking and the British talking in a way I could understand it without having to google lots of words!

Gage is not your average Rock-and-Roll singer. He is a complete southern gentlemen and I absolutely loved that about him. He gave this story a different vibe. It was fresh to see a complete - well almost complete - gentleman.

Charlotte has a personality all her own. She's quick witted, sassy, smart, level-headed, and down to earth (a realist).

This book had it's twists and turns but was an all around happy book. It was a refreshing read and I cannot wait to read more from MB Feeney.

This was my first foray into the world of M B Feeney but I had been following her teasers of this book and was really excited to read it.

Charlotte Evans and her fellow Lyricists/best friends head for a surprise weekend gig in Texas which is where 'it' all begins, with Charlotte also feeling confused as she is already in a relationship, though somewhat stagnant.

It would be pretty unbelivable in real life for a fan to meet their fave rock star and them fall in love immediately but M B just manages to make this work - not only between Charlotte & Gage, but the other relationships of Karina & Matt, and Jenny & Wade too. Gage is the gorgeous, suave, Texan lead singer of Pocket Full Of Lyrics and a real Darlin' ;) I am now an official #ProudLyricist... I was swooning over him from the word go! (Wade is his also gorgeous cousin and I could go for him too).

M B just makes all of the relationships within the group work, they feel real, I totally wanted to be in there with them! All characters were so laid back and relatable. I had a mixture of emotions through the story, from laugh out loud moments to empathy to sadness to gasping out loud to 'awww' moments - especially at the end!

The only thing that I wasn't so keen on was jumping months in the same chapter but I see how it fits with the story. All in all, I loved my first read from M B Feeney and I'm looking forward to reading more, especially the next in the series! 4.5 stars from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fantastic Read By This Author!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 17, 2015

This story starts up just as Charlotte travels to the great US of A for a birthday trip of a lifetime. For me, this story started much, much sooner.

This deserves a five star because of how simply and beautifully M.B. Feeney has written all of these characters. I’m not just talking of Gage and Charlotte, but the secondary characters, too. They all have depth, wit, substance, and that’s not something you see often these days. All of them have rounded out this story in a fantastic way, each bringing their own personalities to life and thus expanding an already brilliant storyline.

I’ve seen and heard this author go through stages of self-doubt, frustration and giddiness with how these characters have confused and rubbed her up the wrong way. But she’s come out the other side with a story that will melt your heart in places and to also want to hit a couple of the characters, too.

Gage is . . . Well, Gage is a man through and through, but once he sets his heart on something, there’s no stopping him. He’s what I would call perfectly flawed. M.B. Feeney has managed to write him so true to life, you can almost imagine him in a recording studio, looking at his phone and smirking at a picture on his phone. He’s not your typical Alpha male that’s trending in books. He’s a down to earth, honest, and very sexy man.

Charlotte is also a great character and they both fill out what I want to see in a couple when I read. She isn’t too star struck and her feet are plainly on the ground (most of the time). She has commitments that she has to constantly think about, but that is another great thing to have with a character. She’s relatable. There’s no airs and graces to her, which I love. What you see is what you get and it’s so refreshing.

M.B. Feeney, you can tell, has poured a lot of what she knows into this book, be that the details or the music, and I couldn’t be more proud of her if I tried. She didn’t give up, which I’m so glad about and I can’t wait to see what she brings us next, because I know it’ll be awesome.

I've know about this author for a while but this is the first of her books I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are relatable and I could picture them in my head as I read. The "struggles" they went through because of the social media spotlight were real and handled well. The only thing stopping me giving it the full 5 stars was that I felt it fell a little flat in the middle and I struggled with it a bit but I would still recommend this book to readers if they enjoy a sweet story of boy meets girls and falls in love.

We've all had that thought, what would it be like to meet your favorite actor/singer. For Charlotte it's everything she could have hoped for and more when she meets Gage, up and coming actor and vocalist of her favorite band Pocket Full of Lyrics. As with any relationship there are pit falls and obstacles to over come and sometimes the Atlantic ocean. Charlotte and Gage's story is a wonderful read with some laugh out loud moments and a great supporting cast of crazy friends.
