- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2020As someone who has been “doing Salesforce for a living” for twenty years, I highly recommend this book. This will be a handy tool in career development conversations with my own team members and an excellent reference for those curious about what it actually means to work in the Salesforce ecosystem.
For years, Martin’s excellent Focus on Force training materials have been the go-to for Salesforce certification exams. Now he’s compiled his own experience and that of his vast network of contacts to provide an in-depth explanation of all the different flavors of a Salesforce career. Readers get insight into each role with realistic and detailed “day in the life” overviews, guidance on how to land the position, and a view of what the career path may be from there. But wait, there’s more! He also discusses some of the most critical soft skills required for Salesforce professionals and offers actionable ways to gain and improve those skill sets. If you are already working in the Salesforce space, this book will help you maximize your success in your current role and chart a path to your next step. If not, I encourage you to take a read. As you’ll learn from this book, the possibilities are endless!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2021It was easy to read and the content provided clarity to areas of concern I had about next steps as a new entrant to Salesforce.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2022Must read book for Salesforce dreamers.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2021This is a great playbook that truly goes over every career option in the Salesforce ecosystem. I appreciate the thought and insight that was put into each position opportunity there is, as well as case studies. I will tell you I benefitted a lot from reading Part Four Soft Skills. While most hard skills can be learned over time, it's the soft skills that play a key role in ones success, which I found to be very enlightening.
This isn't just for anyone starting out in Salesforce, but for anyone that's been using the platform and wanting to branch out and see what other options are available. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2022This book is packed with lots of goodies about starting, defining, and growing your Salesforce career. I had an idea of what I wanted to do but after reading this book I have a much clearer vision and path to get there!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2020The book is a very structured approach towards guiding and motivating Salesforce newbies but from whatever I have read so far (12%), I find that it is a little too long with 400+ pages
I have the option of skipping topics and titles but considering that there are not too many Salesforce books in the market, I would prefer not to skip topics. I will put more comments/reviews as I read more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough Insight into the Salesforce Career World
Much thicker than I expected. It’s a perfect pickup and flip to whichever sections you’re interested in book. Each subject is self-contained and full of details, graphs and images providing bite-sized information filled modules. The various careers are outlined with progression path flowcharts, information about what a day-in-the-life of this career would entail, potential incomes and personal characteristics regarding career suitability. Lot’s of compare and contrast scenarios. Lot’s of case studies by people already working in the Salesforce industry. Quotes by many of the Salesforce industry’s most respected author’s and bloggistis.
I’ve been a Salesforce Admin for 8 years. I trusted the source, author Martin Gessner, who is the founder of the FocusOnForce certification training. This book was everything I hoped it would be. A great read. If you are looking for an honest insight into a future career in the Salesforce world, you won’t be disappointed with this book. I’ve sent it as a Christmas gift to several friends already.
