- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2019The Cure for Stupidity is really simple. As Eric states, and has obviously studied extensively, the "cure" is in the communication. I work in the public sector and talk often with customers and the main thread is miscommunication. Make sure both or all are talking about the same subject. In these times, these days, it is such a simple rule really.
Eric identifies various communication styles, pros and cons. I am using this book to improve my communication with others. I have also purchased more copies for my Program Managers here in public health. I think this is the book that can jump start us in to productive dialogue with our internal and external customers.
Thank you Eric, from the bottom of my heart, for writing this book. And a special thank you to Eric's family for helping to make this happen.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2019I use things learned in this book on daily basis now and am on my third read. It has given me some very good examples of how my prospective and communication fail to get the result I want. It has given me better way to talk with others in reflecting on on there own point of view. Understanding the drivers for thinking and decision making, helps explain some of what I see as crazy behavior.
The scary part is some of book, gets me to see my actions as the crazy...
What ever your job, I THINK this book has got some gems for you!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2019This is a great book on many levels - it's a conversational style that's disarming and easy to read. It's chock full of great content with a variety of examples, stories and stats to get your attention and help the information sink in. The author does a good job of synthesizing a lot of what feels like "common sense" into bite size chunks of critical information that we often forget, neglect or just don't prioritize. His content balances nature and nurture and his tone is easygoing, humble and approachable. Highly recommend - I think anyone will find more than one thing of value in this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2019Concise yet deep, Eric covers A LOT of ground and provides tactical practices based in neuroscience that truly will change how you communicate. This book has changed how I communicate at work AND at home. I am a more effective business owner and better human because of employing what I learned from this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2019Wow! I really enjoyed this book! It was packed with great information and I appreciated the ample real-world examples. It really made me think about the way I communicate and illuminated strategies that I want to practice in my everyday relationships. I found the author to be humorous, engaging and knowledgeable. I would be interested in reading more from him.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2019The idea of listening to hear and reply vs. listening to gain knowledge seems to be so common sense. However, as a society this is now the norm. Waiting for our turn to talk vs. learning from other and really listening.
Great book - easy read.
Looking for more books to come from this talented author and speaker.
