- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAveline, Guy and Quentin survive the crusades and return home only to be forced to fight against the treacherous Abbot to try to save the manor. I won’t spoil your read but the tension continues to the final words of the book. A fitting end to a well crafted trilogy.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe author presented a heroine that will remain with me. The story was one that I could not put down. If another book should be in the making, then I will be the first standing in line to read it. Wonderful, wonderful story. I am forever a fan of this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2025Format: PaperbackOnce again, Fry gripped and sucked me into a vortex filled with over-the-top intrigue, meticulously researched events, and a very plausible story line and characters! The perfect ending (or not) to this trilogy! Kudos!

5.0 out of 5 stars A shame that it has ended
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat a great trilogy! Set in the time of the Crusades it is based round a family torn apart by the lies of a servant. All characteristics of humankind are here; love and loss, loyalty and betrayal, greed and hypocrisy, courage and recklessness, hatred, strength and forgiveness.
Mr Fry asked for an opinion on the ending of the books. Not wanting to spoil things for anyone, I can only say that the ending was as it had to be.
This series has been my good companion and it will take a very special book to replace it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A big surprise
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have never enjoyed historical fiction and was not expecting to enjoy The Chronicles of Aveline, but I have previously enjoyed Ken Fry's writing
I thought I'd try the first in the trilogy. Three days later I've read all three books and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable read. The action moves at a good pace with appropriate levels of well -researched description. All of the characters were very real and my only small criticism is that a strong woman like Aveline kept fainting😄.
