    I enjoy these books other than, as in this one, Bone going off to explore the possible hiding place of the serial killer by himself instead of with the armed escort available and it becomes a slapstick cop comedy routine so the villain gets away. It happens in all of the DCI Bone books and makes him look like an idiot as well as unprofessional. Not a good look for the hero especially when it happens more than once in a book. Is it just an easy way to keep the narrative going?

Unlike the prior books, this one has a myriad of plot errors including a secondary character whose name keeps changing. Very distracting! I'm off to book 5 and hoping it's up to the quality of 1-3.
