The Last Superhero Kindle Edition
Everybody knows that Steven S. Waldorf, the last superhero to roam the Earth, died twenty-eight years ago. What everyone ignores is that not only is he still alive, but being kept under the protection of the United State's government.
That until, one night, he finds himself saving a young woman from getting mugged.
Giana is no ordinary twenty-nine year old, though. She's witty, badmouthed, and once she's set her focus on something nothing can make her stray from her goal.
Even if that means putting her life on the line to save the man she's come to know and love from the nightmares that torment him.
Literally.

About the author

Astrid 'Artistikem' Cruz always knew writing was one of the things she wanted to do in life. What she didn't know was that it would take over and rule her every breath. She's more than once felt something akin to 'choking on a story' hence her quote: "I write because if I don't, my characters will murder me in my sleep."

- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book caught my attention and kept me reading right through to the end. The idea that there really were superheros and that they were an accepted thing at one point was very interesting. But why are we reading about the LAST superhero? This book is not just a story about the individual, but about how we accept -- and don't accept -- people in our society.
That said, I enjoyed the characters and the plot. A woman gets rescued from an attacker and you feel you might be reading any mystery novel that is out there. But then things take a really strange turn. I don't want to ruin the story for you, but remember that people are not always who they seem to be. When you think you know who all the players are, think again.
This is a fun, don't bother me now I'm reading book that would be great to take to the beach or on vacation. Also good for escaping that rainy weekend that ruined all your other plans.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAt first, it's engaging, an interesting plot, with interesting characters, but then it becomes tortured, with prolonged pain and unnecessary scenes that don't add anything other than living through a nightmare. it felt like I was watching a horror flick with long drawn out suspense that was awful. Why would anyone want to keep reading this? I felt like I was hitting my head against the wall again and again. Maybe other people will like this, but I found it painful to finish and unsatisfying at the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI don't know when a book has intrigued me more. Cruz has a singular writing style, one I've never encountered before. One that I came to enjoy. "The Last Superhero" is a challenging book, but well worth the effort. It has a superhero, a woman that comes to love him, and a society that wants him dead. Wonderful!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI will admit that for me this book started slow and I almost quit. But I'm glad I persisted to the end. I ended up loving the use of the characters and plot in this book
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGreat storyline that could have been a very good book. It is ironic that the main character is an editor of sorts, as this book needed a good editing. There is a lot of stream of consciousness that muddies the dialogue. Keeping track of what is going on becomes a bit difficult at times. A great idea, a great premise, a bit of a struggle to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe Last Superhero was an enjoyable read that brings about a new take on superheroes. The last living superhero has been living in exile until a fateful meeting with human, Giana, changes the course of both of their lives. Action, suspense, a decent helping of romance, and a dash of sass.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI actually really liked the book in the beginning but then when it got to the dream sequences and all the fights it was impossible to keep track of who was who doing what to who. This book has such a great premise but it got so confusing that I just to stop and delete it. I have NEVER not finished a book that I had read that much of until this one. It was as if the author just lost it three fourths the way through.
