This is a phenomenal collection of horror shorts. Very unique and visceral takes on the genre; a breath of fresh air in the world of horror literature.

THE WEATHERMAN: has an old-school Stephen King/Ray Bradbury feel, with the creepy experience of gothic horror.

MAMA: not-your-typical possession/old farmhouse/creepy kiddo story. This will surprise you, with imagery and a fast pace that will leave you reeling.

THE MONSTER UNDER THE BED: A more experimental style, with shifts in storytelling that work to build dread and mystery. And an amazing creature (or is it).

LUCIE AND SNAGGLETOOTH: Hold onto your saddles, readers. This one will stick with you LONG after you finish it. IMO, the most shocking, creepy story in the collection. Loved every word.

OPEN HOUSE: Unsettling tale that rocks a comfy suburban couple.

SEEKER: Think D&D and Satanism. Really unique and fresh story surrounding an interactive game and a group of friends. Not often you see fresh ideas in any genre, but this is one. This would make a phenomenal show (Lookin at you, HBO).

THE DUST: Well hello, ancient evil. Please to meet you.

So as you can see, this little collection has a bit of everything. Each story is unique, and you get a taste of every flavour of horror. Great stuff, and I can't wait to read more from this author.

A fun collection of horror stories that kept me interested. I like how many of them seemed like they could be in the same universe, and how two of them were actually connected. I became aware of William Stuart through the NoSleep Podcast (and the NoSleep Podcast Book Club) and was excited to check out his collection of short stories. I definitely enjoyed them and there was a little bit of everything in this collection.

I have followed the short story fiction of William stuart through many compilations of various authors. When I heard that he was releasing a compilation of his own original shorts in immediately got multiple copies to give to people I have recommended him to. He has one of the most genuine and fresh styles of writing that makes pages move in moments and his use of various aspects and themes of the horror genre is sublime.

This book scratches that itch you may have for classic horror and nostalgia. The stories all consider the road less traveled and in most cases, it's a stretch of highway or life that the characters would clearly have been better off avoiding on the Waze App.
Stuart taps into the vein of Fright Night, The Twilight Zone, Creepshow, and a trip to the video store circa 1988. It's not splatter-gore and it isn't implied, mundane horror either. There are ghosts and demons and some really terrible people too. If you want a fun, unnerving collection of stories, check this one out.

I enjoyed the short stories. They are a quick read and it’s good for reading on the go during lunch breaks etc. It’s well written. The only criticism is that it’s a bit predictable and there weren’t that many oh damn! Moments

Mr. Stuart artfully draws in the reader to the outskirts of Houston, Texas and creating an eerie sense of familiarity. Each tale is chilling in its own right, and leaves the reader in the dark until the very end. You may be able to close the book and walk away, but the horror stays with you.

Every story in this collection has something special to bring to the table. Some take a slow burn approach while making their way to the spooks, while others will jump in right away and continue throughout. You will feel nostalgic for times past, while also taking in the cultural setting of Southeast Texas which can be felt throughout the book. It's definitely worth checking out, but beware, it is not for the faint of heart.

This a great collection that evokes an 80s / 90s nostalgia feel.

As a keen roleplayer in my teens who has rediscovered that joy of RPGs in my mid 40s my favourite story has to be Seeker that plays on the satanist paranoia of the 80s and delivers a great twist.

I also particularly enjoyed the weatherman. A tale that evokes both tragedy and fear.

The author has a great knack for engaging characters that draw you in and strong plot lines.

Outstanding work and I look forward to more from the William Stuart.
