    A fantastic second adventure with Sugar and Blaze. Like the first book (‘That’s Rubbish!’) we read this with our three children (two girls, 7 and 9; one boy, 11 going on 25) over a couple of evenings and it’s been a big hit. Lots of fun and lots of chuckles along the way. Better yet, it’s a super Christmas story with some great imaginative elements and a healthy dose of silliness thrown in (we especially enjoyed the aurora borealis chapter, the book’s definite trump card). Like the first book, the quality of writing is very good. The author has a real gift for conveying that sense of wonder and adventurousness possessed by young children. This makes her lead characters feel warm and genuine as well as, I’m sure, very familiar to many parents of similarly-aged kids.

    All in all, another lovely story that’s really helped get us all into the festive spirit!

    There’s nothing to dislike about this book. It’s a great read for youngsters who enjoy adventures. Would certainly recommend this book to read aloud or for children to read for themselves. Hope to see more from this author.
