You really need to start reading this series from the beginning because what happened to Rex in this first book is what made him the way he is. He is a very determined person and does not stop at anything to take down the bad guys--especially if they are terrorist or if it is a group that is funding terrorist. Even though this is his main mindset, he still wants to protect the innocent that inadvertently get in the way...

Texas - This author belongs on the same shelf as Ludlum and Follette and those other guys! My first read by this author and I couldn't put the book down! Mesmerized by the writing style, the vivid descriptions and the storylines, I read without stopping. Fast paced, action packed and interesting on several facets.

Margaret Bentley - I love reading about Rex Dalton's exploits, but my favorite character has to be Digger, his military-trained super-intelligent dog.

    I just love JC Ryan, Rex and Digger! I have read all 16 episodes with this amazing man and his dog. In addition, I have read all the stories of the Rossler Foundation, and loved every one. Once in awhile I come across an author who writes such great books-with excitement, intrigue, maybe a little romance, disgusting villains and a satisfying finish to the book with the promise of more. Additionally, I have read each of the Carter Devereaux tales and I sincerely loved all of them! I will without hesitation or trepidation I will read whatever Mr Ryan writes! I love all his stories.
    I know some people say the characters aren’t developed, or the stories are just good-well I say get off your pillar and chill out. Whatever you’re expecting-open your head to the possibility you might just enjoy this these books. Give them a try, I did and I am NOT sorry!

There’s plenty of action and it’s great fun to see how Rex and Digger interact and have their own language. They consistently surprise everyone. Would be a five except I found some of the detailed information distracting. FOR EXAMPLE I don't need to know everything about the model of car being driven and so much description makes the story less desirable for me.

    This was my first time reading a Rex Dalton story but enjoyed it immensely. It's a great story and the politics involved, especially with regards to China, are I suspect much closer to fact than fiction.

    I really like the final outcome too, although if it were a true story I don't think the actual ending would be anywhere near as gratifying.

    A great read overall and highly recommended.

    Very disappointed by the last 3 Rex Dalton books. Too much info on China, why repeat each character's story instead of just putting in parenthesis "see book n° ", it wouold be less boring and he would sell more books.
    If you put together the action in the 3 last books you wouldn't even have enough to make one book.
    It's sad after having so much fun with all the other Rex Dalton stories.

Very frightening how the story evolves around the Chinese wishing to be in control. The pace was great and I found it hard to put it down. Well done once again for an excellent story line.
