I love science fiction stories that explore the fantastic possibilities that future technology holds. This ranges from near-future stories where mankind is just beginning to travel the galaxy to far-future adventures where mankind has explored the furthest reaches of the galaxy, encountered extraordinary wonders, and uncovered a myriad of alien races, both friendly and not so friendly. If you enjoy futuristic stories, I hope you will come along on an adventure or two :)

Through over 1300 pages, the author never lets up on the tension, the action, and the anxiety. The writing is vivid (I wanted to read it all in one sitting but even in COVID-times we got places to go) and characterizations generally distinctive and consistent. The ultimate EotU (Enemy of the Universe) even has a personality...

I really liked the framing device - a nearly immortal Empress of an Empire that initially sounds, well, not too horrible has such a deep-seated fear of being afraid that she build an empire just to have an impregnable fortress. Unfortunately, she makes a few really bad choices which awakens the EotU.

And then we have the heroes of the story - who have their own pathways through fear and pain. These characters - Anders, Dalia, Patch, and J-14 - all have to make some kind of a journey...with no obvious single outcome. I enjoyed the suspense and had to re-read some of the space warfare scenes just to make sure I got the geometry in my head.

Good stuff - I recommend this truly epic tale.

Good read, flows well and has good characters. It's an interesting galaxy and situation. Here's the problem; as with sooo many other series, the editing falls way off and screws the flow badly! I really don't understand this, but it happens a lot!

Starts with a murder and a detective. Quickly moves to a conspiracy and a galactic power struggle. Non-stop adventure and almost non-stop action. Great, thrilling story. Yes there are a few proofreading errors, but only a few in 9 books! A great read!

Very entertaining and creative storyline with unconquerable and dangerous major characters. The central character keeps his objective in mind as everyone in the galaxy around him is in chaos.

I think the characters were well thought out and like-able. The plot was great but after the 2nd book it was just a repeat of the last book. Hero’s get mission. Hero’s get captured. Hero’s find mysterious benefactor and escape. The last book just 3rd Ed. Oh we won and now we must unify the universe. Nothing a police officer shouldn’t be able to handle with his plucky friends. It was a good series and I enjoyed reading it but I think five volumes too long.

I wanted something light and fun in the science fiction genre, and this worked. However, if you are looking for a deep, consistent plot and deep, well-developed characters, this is not a series for you. A character who was supposed to be clever wasn't really that clever, the main character reminded me of an insecure teeenager (not really likeable), and there were inconsistencies in the story from one book to the next. You'll also start reading the next book in the series to find as an established fact that is an extremely important detail - except it was never established in the previous books! There are grammar errors; editing could definitely have been done better. That being said, they were not constant and irritating. Also positives, there were no sex scenes, and there is no swearing except for words and phrases that the author makes up. The problems this series has did not keep me from enjoying reading it - just don't expect too much.

Prior to starting this series, I'd suffered through some truly terrible stories and writing in the SF genre. I was a little gunshy to commit to a 9-book series, but took the plunge.

I'm glad I did. The characters were fun, the story moved along. I think there could have been an Epilogue at the end of book 9 to tie up some loose ends with Black Rose and the three main protagonists, but otherwise this is an enjoyable way to spend several hours without worrying what book you need to read next.

If you are interested in the battle of good against evil . . This is the book fir you. Great characters with an intriguing story line. Follow them on a journey you won't want to end until the good guys win.

Plenty of totally unreal action in this series. But that just makes it great fantasy sci-fi. Do Anders and Dalia get together? Plenty of future tension there.

    The storyline had great continuity.
    The cast was believable.
Should be continued even as stand alone novels .
There are several opportunities for offshoots.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this series. However I wasn’t disappointed. There are characters you will love and hate. It is a romp going from one adventure to another. I wouldn’t call it brilliant but it kept me engaged. And I give it four stars for that reason.
