    I'm really enjoying this series. Even though all books can be read as a standalone, I recommend that you read them in order to get a better understanding of the hybrid shifter characters being mention from the previous books. Since all of them do make a feature in all the books. With that being said I really liked this pack of misfits and Cheryl was a great addition to the pack. With the added plot, twist, and of course steamy romance definitely made for a helluva read.

Cheryl is a young witch with limited powers anxiously awaiting her designation ceremony to determine which academy she will be attending. She is shocked to learn that she will be separated from her best friend, Rachel, and sent to Lunar Academy. Witches destined to attend a shifter academy are the lowest ranking magic users and become enslaved by packs. Somehow she has to remain independent and resist alpha temptations so she doesn’t end up a slave.

    Cheryl meets three shifters and develops an immediate attraction despite her best efforts. How is she supposed to fight this innate pull? There is Noah; the sweetheart Beta, Oscar; the stalker funny guy Omega, and Everett; the brooding Alpha-hole. Noah and Oscar are excited about finding their true mate but it takes Everett quite some time to get on board with the relationship. He is definitely my least favorite in the harem but I do understand why he was resistant to being fated with a witch.

    Of course, Cheryl isn’t just a lowly ranking witch. She’s so much more and is underestimated by many. There were a few aspects of this book that confused me and could have been written better, but overall, this was a fast paced quick read. I’m excited for other books in this universe!

As the story progresses her lot is even worse than she thought, a few stalkers get caught, and adjusting to her new normal may be for naught. Romy Lockhart stripped the training wheels off before I was ready for it in Vicious Love. This group ends up right where they are supposed to be even though it seems that half of them fight the path set forward.

All of that goes astray when she meets her mates. Who are not supposed to exist as a witch. I enjoyed watching Cheryl grow into her strengths and discover who she really is.

    Ok so I liked this book and would recommend it but I really think it should have been a duet vs a standalone. I had trouble getting a sense of the world. Why were witches ok with some being enslaved to wolves? How does werewolf society run? Alphas seemed the boss but there are multiple small packs so how are they governed? I did not get a good sense of Cheryl’s moms condition in the beginning because so much is rushed and told vs shown. Same thing at the end. It’s so rushed and unbelievable. With that many guns on them they would have been shot before killing Bianca. Plus it made no sense that the betas followed Bianca vs the Alphas orders with the few rules the book established. How was Everett’s house so unsecured? How was it so easy to get the wolves to stop enslaving witches? Again told and not shown this. So much was glossed over at the end it’s ridiculous. I’ll give it 4 stars but really it’s more of a 3.5 because of everything left out.
