A beach wedding to remember. An embarrassing incident with a good-looking member of the groom's family. A sticky situation ... what else could go wrong in this small-town, clean & sweet beach romance?
Alyssa Harwood’s Gran is about to get married, whether the rest of the family approves or not. Alyssa finds herself at Gran’s bed and breakfast in the small town of Cockleshell Bay to help with the wedding preparations.
When everyone arrives a few days before the wedding, the two families meet for dinner to get to know each other. An unfortunate incident leads to Alyssa taking an instant dislike to Ryan Thurstan, grandson of the groom, and it seems the feeling is mutual. It’s just a shame he’s so good-looking. Alyssa has never met such an irritating yet impossibly attractive man.
Concerns for the family wealth lead Alyssa and Ryan into compromising situations and an uneasy truce develops when they catch each other out.
But when Ryan finds himself in a sticky situation, Alyssa realizes she has to make a choice. Will she play it safe and allow Ryan to get himself out of trouble, or will she expose her own humiliating incident to help him? And even if she does, will he appreciate it? Or will he steal her heart instead?

- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOf course the main story was a wedding coming up between Alyssa's grandmother and Ryan's grandfather. It was a great two families group enjoying getting acquainted. Alyssa did not like Ryan at first due to two accidents he caused making a terrible mess of her clothes grape juice hit her white blouse and the he lost the ketchup bowl onto the front of her outfit. It unbelievably turns into what is two loving friends and looking like a happy ever after coming for these two in future.
I recommend your reading this well crafted story as I feel it is so joyful.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a short read about Gran and Tony getting married, but it’s so much more than that. We get the secondary romance of Alyssa and Ryan, a murder investigation, a man found on the beach, barely alive, and a shake up after the Thurstan family learns Tony is redoing his will. Grab your copy and see what happens.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2021Format: KindleAlyssa arrived at her gran's B&B in Cockleshell Bay for the upcoming wedding of her grandmother. As part of the pre-wedding preparations, a dinner is set for both sides of the families to meet and get to know each other.
This is probably a *Spoilers* tag.
At this dinner, Ryan, the groom's grandson, accidentally spills his dark grape juice on the back of Alyssa's white sweater; says "My apologies" and walks away, leaving Alyssa to try to get the juice stain out of her sweater. Ryan's aunt says Ryan is a social klutz, is brilliantly creative and very clever---like that is to excuse his behavior? Alyssa and Ryan end up being seated next to each other and despite her irritation at him, his good looks make her heart skip a beat. He tries making jokes to her and next thing you know, he spills ketchup on her lap. No one seems to notice except one person, and she excuses herself to go wash her clothes and throw them in the dryer.
ok, this scene is where I got frustrated with this story. Who takes all this "abuse" and doesn't yell when she is blind sided with food mishaps? Then goes to do laundry before going back to eat? (That is over an hour time frame, right?--or more, at my house!) And throwing clothes in the dryer would set the stain!
Anyway, I guess she hates to draw attention to herself, but this was too much for me to accept. It just makes Ryan a klutzy jerk, and his good looks get him off the hook.
There are other episodes in the book make make you wonder if this will ever come right in the end but it does.
I give this book 3.5 stars because I like the author's writing style. Easy to read, but I didn't care for the cowardly actions of Alyssa's responses to being dumped on. I thought she should have a stronger character in her reactions and it colored my opinions thru the rest of the story.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSweet story how Alyssa's Gran married and from this marriage came more weddings. Alyssa's sister, Ella , is next to marry Flynn, a well known movie producer and it appears Ryan and Alyssa are next. This was a sweet story and definitely worth the read!!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2021Format: KindleBood 6 of the series "Summer at the seaside", a narratrion of the Harwood family over the years, is told from Alyssa's point of view. She arrives at Spindrift Cottage to help prepare for her grandmother's wedding, thus connecting this story to the previous book "Summer in Spindrift Cottage".
Alyssa is a little unsure about the changes that are about to happen, with her grandmother marrying into another family, gaining a whole clan of family.
Especially one new family member is catching her eye, but as they have a bad start, her anger and her interest in him war inside of her.
The story is quite entertaining, with wedding hiccups, new beginnigs and a new job.
the story is well-written, not really exciting, it just flows along - like life does in reality - which makes it difficult to quit or put aside.
A lovely book

- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAnother great story in this series. I love how the story flows, and the insights of the characters. The romance is great. I did laugh at some of the mishaps that happened to Ella.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2021Format: KindleGran and Tony are getting married and going to live at the cottage. Both families come for the wedding and situations between two grandchildren arise as Alyssa and Ryan get off to a bad start. The characters are diverse and interesting, with both sides sometimes at war with each other. The storyline has multiple plots going, from the wedding and families to the man found on the beach and murder. Surprises and twists work well into the story along with the changing relationship of Alyssa and Ryan. The ending was great.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhile Alyssa and Ryan's story is sweet eventually, their starting banter sounds like a junior high school lunch room. He's so unsure of himself and she's so hard-headed it looks like they'll never make it together and the frequency of the phrase "an adventure" made me want to scream. But by some miracle they get a relatively happy ending.
