- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2013I have a friend who is very big on walking her 10,000 steps a day, so for quite a while I've been wanting to do some research on this topic. Thank you to Kirk for doing it for me; he saved me hours upon hours of research!
I loved his Introduction to this book; it allows you to jump immediately to the section of information you are most interested in. I resisted doing this and read it cover to cover first, but I am finding it handy in referring back to specific details I'm looking for.
Years ago I bought a pedometer and started tracking my steps but then lost interest and have misplaced it. I was happy to have Kirk's research and recommendations on pedometers to purchase so I don't end up wasting money by choosing one that doesn't meet my needs.
Also I appreciated the calculations in the "Weight-Loss Power of 10,000 Steps a Day" chapter. Even though I'm not a numbers person, seeing those numbers was inspiring as well as the benefits bulleted about the positive health benefits of walking 10,000 steps a day.
I recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2013I thought this book would help me get organized in implementing a 10,000 steps a day program. Instead it reviewed other programs that could get me there. I guess I just didn't understand the premise of the book before I got it. I could have gotten that same information through a Google search. However, if you are looking for a book that lists and analyzes different walking programs, this book will give it to you.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2013This book has inspired me to get out the door and walk on days that I don't feel like running. One day I was feeling really lethargic and went out to walk and ended up running at least half the time. And even if I only have an extra 15 minutes on a busy morning, I get myself out the door and get in some steps. I feel better already!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2014This book was just a guide to other books and information about walking away the pound. If I had know that I would not have wasted my time. However, I did end up buying a book by Greg Isaacs that was reference in this book. It was what I needed in the first place.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2013Kirk Mahoney has done it again, another well-written book giving us great reasons to walk 10,000 steps. The book provides the reader with numerous options regarding walking programs and has a section on pedometer selection. Kirk also gives the reader great health benefits for walking 10,000 steps per day. It is hard to disagree with Kirk as he suggests that just a little more added walking to our current routine will pay off with a great return on the time investment with a slow and steady improvement in overall health. The book is easy to read and because of the excellent references, will be a book that is often pocked up again by the reader to review a product reference.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2013Compelling, comprehensive, and informative -- Dr. Kirk Mahoney's book appeals to our need to be fit and our desire to attain and maintain a healthy weight -- no matter what our budget! Based on well documented research, he provides insights and analysis into the steps and tools that will help us achieve and sustain our fitness and weight goals. His comparative analysis of the features and benefits of the various tools available to empower his readers are thorough and useful. He reduces 10,000 steps per day to doable and prods us to start stepping and keep stepping!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2013This is a very skinny book and is mostly just a source for more information. I walk 10K a day and run my own 8-week walking group 2x a year and was hoping to get a little more interesting and useful information out of this.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2013This is a must read book. It is very informative and motivational. Its also a truthful book because I've tried some of the techniques. This book was also a fun read. I enjoyed all the references. I have been running/walking for numerous years and have reach a point that I enjoy fast walk instead of running. I enjoy setting goals for myself, after reading this book I am so pump to set my 10k steps a day walking goal....whoo-wee.....

2.0 out of 5 stars Let's Go - Jeder Schritt hält fit ...
Schade!

I wouldn't waste my time on this book. Very little useful information.
